Use communication and advocacy to grow the engagement and efforts of public and private audiences to further the rights of all children with special focus on the most marginalized and vulnerable and girls in particular.

How can you make a difference?

  1. Develop partnerships with various entities (private sector, civil society organizations, media outfits, religious community) in the region to raise awareness and engagement around children’s’ issues and bring visibility to UNICEF’s activities in MENA.
  2. Engage well known persons in the region as Regional Ambassadors, influencers, supporters & champions to advocate for children’s issues and develop broad support in furthering goals for all boys and girls.
  3. Establish and maintain partnerships with the media through various channels, including the Regional Media Awards, organize visit of journalists for the purpose of visibility for UNICEF and donors and explore innovative use of media contacts to strengthen UNICEF’s brand and reach.
  4. In coordination with colleagues in the communication section, organize and implement activities around major UNICEF moments such as the CRC, the State of the World’s children publication, appointments of ambassadors, and major visibility events.
  5. In coordination with Senior Communication personnel work on visibility and communications content for major donors and partnerships, including the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis as well as collaboration with UNRWA and other UN Agencies and the No Lost Generation initiative.
  6. In coordination with the Regional Advisors, the Senior Communication personnel, and programme focal points, participate in regional activities and planning visits of Goodwill Ambassadors, national committee representatives and other high-level visits including preparation of information materials and necessary logistic arrangements.
  7. Provide key support on developing and disseminating content for social media platforms to help raise awareness and engage new audiences, especially young people.
  8. Be the focal point for managing the UNICEF-EU Regional Trust Fund website and developing content to be placed on the platforms.
  9. Provide input for strategic plans on how to increase engagement from different audiences to further the goals and rights of children in the region.  

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education: University degree in communication, journalism, public relations.
  • Experience: Two years practical professional experience in communications, partnerships
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Arabic. Other UN languages would be an advantage
