Synopsis
The purpose the UNFPA Junior Professional Officer (JPO) post with Eastern Europe and Central Asia Regional Office (EECARO) will be to provide on-the-job training in order to obtain practical experience in development assistance and to acquire professional knowledge in population projects in a developing country.
 
The JPO will support the emergency preparedness and response in a humanitarian setting on the County Office level and the regional level in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. This includes, but is not limited to the development of a regional Preparedness Action Plan, the active support of UNFPA’s work with Implementing Partners and other strategic alliances, as well as the development and implementation of humanitarian Work Plans.
 
Qualifications and Experience
  • Postgraduate degree in social sciences or related fields with specialized knowledge in the field of Humanitarian studies, Public health, social sciences or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in programme management and coordination experience in humanitarian and relief operations at the international level. Prior experience in developing countries is an asset.
  • Fluency in English compulsory. Fluency in Russian, Arabic or Farsi would be an asset.
  • Ability to write in English clearly and concisely. 
  • Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members from different national and cultural backgrounds.
