Planning Officer will be responsible for supporting performance management and knowledge management in the region and within the regional office allowing stronger support and oversight of country office activities in the same areas.

Purpose of the Position:

Under the direct supervision and general guidance of the Regional Chief of Programme and Planning, Planning Officer will be responsible for supporting performance management and knowledge management in the region and within the regional office allowing stronger support and oversight of country office activities in the same areas.

Key Accountabilities and Duties & Tasks:

  1. Coordinates the Regional Office performance management oversight and support activities for country offices by analyzing relevant programme performance indicators and providing periodic updates and corrective advice to improve performance management in South Asia.
  2. Supports knowledge management planning in the region and regional office and participates in the implementation of performance and knowledge management strategies in the region.
  3. Supports systematic use and improvement of Insight in the region as a management tool to promote equity programming.
  4. Provides technical support in database management, design and analysis of data/data sets to enable effective, evidence based programming for children and women in South Asia.
  5. Supports development and monitoring of the Regional Office workplans and country office support requests to ensure Regional Office objectives and targets are achieved.
  6. Assists the Regional Office plan and organize training of programme assistants on performance and knowledge management. Identifies training needs for the purpose of capacity building and sustainability of performance/knowledge management in the Regional Office.
  7. Undertakes field visits to monitor and evaluate performance management implementation and knowledge management systems within country offices.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate:

  1. University degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development or other relevant disciplines.
  2. Two years progressively responsible professional work experience at the national level in social development, management, monitoring and evaluation.
  3. Fluency in written and spoken English required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
