Under the supervision and guidance of the supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for executing a broad variety of standardized tasks for the Sustainability and Policy Action Unit in the Policy, Strategy and Networks (PSN) section requiring through knowledge of UNICEF administrative procedures, processes and policies ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations

UNICEF is mandated by UN General Assembly to advocate the protection of children's right, to help meet their basis needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. To achieve this UNICEF generates the latest evidence on children and works with governments and the public to ensure children receive the services they need, that their voices are heard, and that there is a progressive realization of their rights. Specially, the Data, Research and Policy Division (DRP) measures these results for children and coordinates the development of UNICEF's official policy.


How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision and guidance of the supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for executing a broad variety of standardized tasks for the Sustainability and Policy Action Unit in the Policy, Strategy and Networks (PSN) section requiring through knowledge of UNICEF administrative procedures, processes and policies ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations.

  • Research, analyze, verify, synthesize and compile qualitative data and information from a variety of sources on subject matters relevant to the work of the section to facilitate preparation of reports working papers and presentations.
  • Carry out transactions through UNICEF software applications ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs), and make amendments and alterations as wper section revisions when necessary.
  • Monitor and track the efficient distribution of supplies that are required for effective programme delivery.
  • Prepare monitoring ad reporting information for supervisor on agreed performance indicators to dive more efficient management and accountabilty results.
  • Monitor budget and financial expenditures of section, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulation, keeping supervisor informed and advised and action for decision / follow up.
  • Monitor transations of grants and tracking of expiring programme grants
  • Support capacity development activities related to performance monitoring, programme development and related internal UNICEF systems /tools by preparing training materials and participating on exercises pertaining to pgoramme and procedures which aim to build capacity of stakeholders.
  • Draft vacancy announcements for positions, analyze, research, verify and compile data which facilitates preparation of workforce planning reports, reviewing gender and geographic balance for recruitment and other related key peformance indicators.
  • Liaise with candidates in the various stages of recruitment process, and monitor life cycle of recruitment process.
  • collect and file documents for approval and upload electronically.
  • Take minutes of unit meeting and keep the correspondance of the section/unit well organized (electronically).
  • Prepare background material for participants and upload cleared material in the intranet.
  • Provide travel assistance to staff in section for travel arrangements and entitlements based on the organizations rules and policies.
  • Monitor travel certification and report back to team.
  • Support management of administrative supplies, office equipments, arrange purchase and timely distribution of office supplies.
  • Maintain and update a system monitor the absence of the staff.


To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • Completion  of  secondary  education  supplemented  with  university  level  courses  in  business administration, human resources management, procurement or a directly related technical field.
  • A minimum of (6) six years of relevant experience in providing progressively responsible administrative support services, preferably with a focus in facilities support services is required.
  • Working knowledge of SPA (Systems, Applications and Products) software will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of UN/UNICEF policies and procedures is an asset.
  • Passing the GGST Exam (Global General Service Test) or UN ASAT in English is required.
  • Non-US candidates must be in possession of a US G4 visa or be a US permanent resident/citizen.
  • Fluency in English is required.  Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
