We are looking for a highly qualified, independent candidate who can fit the position of Livelihoods Project Assistant in Algeria.
Who are we?
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. Since April 2016, the DRC Algeria team has sought to implement relevant, coordinated and effective livelihood support to the Sahrawi youth that utilizes their full potential. DRC intervention will include the provision of life skills training, quick impact projects related to social opportunities for youth, provision of business development training, and distribution of small grants to start up or expand micro, small, or medium enterprises (MSMEs).
About the job
Under the direct supervision of the Livelihoods Team Leader, the Livelihoods Project Assistant will assist the implementation and monitoring of DRC livelihoods activities in the Saharawi refugees camps in Tindouf, Algeria, in adherence with DRC and donor guidelines and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support in all DRC activities undertaken in the Saharawi camps, with the guidance of the Livelihoods Team Leader and the Livelihoods Manager.
- Project assistant will have responsibilities of facilitation, translation and mobilization of stakeholders, etc.
- Support Monitoring and Evaluation activities.
- Serve as the main focal point for the Wilaya of Dakhla, in terms of relations with beneficiaries, authorities and communities.
- Support the identification and mobilization of youth beneficiaries for the programme.
- Report back verbally as often as needed, and in written when required, to the Livelihoods Team Leader and Livelihoods Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
About you
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Indispensable prior experience working in the Saharawi refugees camps area in Algeria.
- At least 1 year of practical experience in project implementation and project monitoring in other LNGOs, Associations, INGOs, UN, donors.
- Solid networks in the Saharawi refugee camps.
- Good communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience working with youth (in activism, advocacy, associations, etc.) will be an advantage.

Strong IT skills will be an advantage.

Required qualifications
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 2 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 1st of August 2017 and be willing and able to work in Saharawi Refugees Camps. Tindouf, Algeria.
