Who are we? 
 
Danish Refugee Council is a leading protection agency pursuing our mandate to protect and promote durable solutions to displacement-affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), DRC apply a regional approach with operational presence in Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Iraq. 
Present in Iraq since 2003, DRC is today operational in the Kurdish governorates, in and around Baghdad and in several South-Central governorates. Focused both on the influx of Syrian refugees and the current IDP crisis, DRC is providing assistance in a range of sectors including Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Protection, Livelihoods, Emergency Response (including food security, cash, and NFIs), WASH, Shelter and Mine Action. The Iraq programme presently employs some 450 national staff and 45 international staff, and is growing to meet new, emerging needs associated with ongoing and recent conflict in multiple locations. 
 
About the job 
 
The Rapid Protection Assessment Project contributes to the harmonized collection, reporting, and advocacy of protection related information, in line with best practices and agreed upon methodologies across the country in order to improve the protection environment of affected communities, in close coordination with the Protection Cluster, RPA Focal Point Organizations, and network members. Under the supervision of the Rapid Protection Assessment Project Manager (RPA PM), the Programme Officer (PO) is responsible for supporting the delivery of high quality activities in the RPA project. The PO will provide support for implementation of project activities in the area of operations, monitoring and evaluation, information management, and reporting. The PO contributes to the fulfillment of the aims and objectives of DRC’s presence in Iraq. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
• Contribute to development and integration of project work plans in area of operations; 
• Support the development and harmonization of information management processes for the RPA Project under the guidance of the RPA PM; 
• Support the refining of data collection, monitoring and reporting tools for RPA Project 
• Assist the RPA PM and associated Focal Points with direct implementation of project activities (e.g. training, data collection, reporting, communication, coordination) as directed 
• Coordinate with relevant national and international actors and actively participate in relevant meetings and workshops within the area of operations as requested 
• Undertake additional research, communications and reporting tasks as requested 
• Any other duties as directed by the RPA PM 
 
About you 
 
To be successful in this role you must have: 
 
Essential qualifications:
 
• University degree or higher education relevant to humanitarian work: preferably in law, social sciences or humanitarian aid; 
• Demonstrable theoretical and/or practical knowledge of protection, information management, advocacy 
• Cultural and gender sensitivity, adaptability 
 
Essential experience:  
 
• 1-2 years experience in an humanitarian setting, preferably relating to one of DRC’s sectors of interest (i.e. livelihoods, community driven development, cash programming, protection, etc) 
• Experience in report writing and M&E 
• Strong information management skills, including but not limited to the creation of databases, use of server-based information collection tools, etc. 
• English, Kurdish or Arabic an asset

We offer 
 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 month contract subject to extension based on performance and funding. You must be available to start work on September 1st 2017 and be willing to live and work in Iraq. 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates; please refer to www.drc.ngo under Vacancies. This position will be placed at A18 DRC’s salary scale depending on experience. The R&R cycle for Erbil is every 12 week.
