NRC in Jordan 

Established in 2012 NRC Jordan’s long-term outlook addresses the problems affecting life as a refugee. We work to build the resilience of Syrians, and to relieve the impact on the Jordanian communities that host them.  Syrian refugees in Jordan are struggling. As they contend with difficult living conditions across the country, the obstacles are complex. They struggle to remain registered as refugees, to provide for their families, and to access essential services – including education for their children. The Jordanian communities that host them, meanwhile, feel the impact of hosting high numbers of refugees – with each year that passes, local infrastructure becomes more strained.

Role Specific Information

The Technical ICT officer for the NRC Jordan Country Office is responsible for ensuring all NRC Global & Local ICT policies and guidelines are implemented and to ensure the efficient and cost effective set-up, also will be responsible for technical support for staff.

Generic responsibilities:

  • Provides direction, assigns tasks and gives instructions to staff, specifies their individual work plans and evaluates individual team members performance.Team Leader: has 3 or more direct reports, Technical Officer can have up to 3 Direct Reports.
  • Supports assigned staff in their professional development, identifies training needs, supports staff to achieve the objectives defined in their learning development plans and/or Provides advanced technical support and develops capacity building initiatives to enhance the technical knowledge and professional development of staff.
  • Develops systems and SOP's and makes sure they are implemented accordingly. Implements complex systems and procedures conform NRC policies, SOP's and handbooks. Provides advice to managers on complex and cross departments issues Provides quality checks on department processes and output.
  • Ensures compliance with NRC (global and national) policies and procedures, handbooks and guidelines and/or proposes new initiatives to bridge gaps and implements these.
  • Develops with the assigned team, Quarterly activity plans and/or Feeds in the Quarterly team activity plan with technical experience and knowledge.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Responsible of providing first level support to NRC staff, including but not limited to network, software and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Provide procurement assistance including, but not limited to, researching solutions, engaging with potential vendors, making recommendations for product purchases and evaluating bids.
  • Assure that all software on NRC equipment is licensed and keep record of licenses and support contracts to include notification of renewal timeframe to management.
  • Configure, manage and support network equipment.
  • Work with ISP and other outside vendors to ensure dependable operations.
  • Work with vendors and vendor supplied systems to track service requests through to completion.

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a university graduate with a minimum of three years previous experience in relevant field. Experience from working as an ICT Assistant / Officer or above in a humanitarian/recovery context. Previous experience working with network configuration, vSphere and Microsoft Excel, Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels, and to have Previous experience from managing a small team, and may be required to work extended and /or non-core business hours, as and when required by the needs of the organization. This may include evening, weekends and holidays.
