NRC in Jordan 

Established in 2012 NRC Jordan’s long-term outlook addresses the problems affecting life as a refugee. We work to build the resilience of Syrians, and to relieve the impact on the Jordanian communities that host them.  Syrian refugees in Jordan are struggling. As they contend with difficult living conditions across the country, the obstacles are complex. They struggle to remain registered as refugees, to provide for their families, and to access essential services – including education for their children. The Jordanian communities that host them, meanwhile, feel the impact of hosting high numbers of refugees – with each year that passes, local infrastructure becomes more strained.

Role Specific Information

NRC has been implementing projects in the renewable energy sector supporting vulnerable Syrian refugees and Jordanians in reducing their utility costs, raise awareness on energy efficiency and improving efficiency of public buildings specifically public schools. The Renewable Energy Technical Officer will support the program with technical know-how and coordination.

Generic responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support and develops capacity building initiatives to enhance the technical knowledge and professional development of staff.
  • Feeds in the Quarterly team plan with technical experience and knowledge.
  • Provides technical analysis, systems and tools to improve quality of programming.

  • Ensures that government priorities are feed in programming.
  • Provides technical analysis and suggestions for project development.
  • Represent NRC, liaison and collaborate with relevant local authorities and/or stakeholders.
  • Shares technical knowledge, develops systems and tools to enhance the quality of the project.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Proactively participate in relevant coordination fora on renewable energy, represent NRC In the energy task force in Jordan
  • Support the program team with the development of technical guidelines and best practices in the implementation of renewable energy interventions.
  • Support the specialist in establishing and maintaining stong links stakeholders at the national level, positioning NRC as a key player in complementing the GoJ renewable energy strategy.
  • Analyse data and produce monthly and adhoc reports on the impact of NRC activities in the renewable energy sector - provide content for updating general communication materials related to NRC's activities in renewable energy. 

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a university graduate with a minimum of three years previous experience in relevant field.   Experience working in complex and volatile contexts, Proven experience in the design and implementation of interventions in the renewable energy sector, Proven experience working on the Syrian refugee response in Jordan particularly in the northern governorates, Proven technical experience in renewable energy systems design, implementation and monitoring, Fluency in English and Arabic is a must
