The Strategic Resource Management Section focuses on identifying and carrying out forward looking analyses that are critical to management decision making and will distinguish it from the types of financial analysis already performed in other parts of the division. The Decision Support Unit is part of the Strategic Resource Management Section.


How can you make a difference?


As Chief of the Decision Support Unit, you will focus on collecting, analyzing and providing the organization with information critical to Results-Based management (RBM) and the optimization of Value for Money (VfM).  The incumbent will be responsible for managing and motivating a team of three professional-level staff members focused on undertaking forward and outward looking financial and operational analyses to inform senior management decision making and support enhanced transparency and accountability.  This will in turn facilitate UNICEF goals and objectives as enumerated in the Strategic Plan. 

 You will actively interact with colleagues across all functions and levels of the organization.  Some of your key functions and activities will be:

 

  • Leadership on Performance Analysis
    • Analyze current and past trends in key performance areas including all areas of revenue and expenses
  • Performance Indicators
    • Identify Monitor and Agree performance indicators
    • Highlight trends and analyze variances
  • Make Recommendations
    • Provide accurate and timely financial and operational recommendations to management for decision making purposes,
  • Develop Tools and Models
    • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives,
    • Oversee and manage the development of Financial Forecasting and Modelling tools and the Business Intelligence (BI) Dashboard,
  • Reporting
    • Provide Quarterly and Monthly Financial reports
    • Carry out Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analyses
  • Team Management
    • Motivate and manage the staff of the Decision Support team
    • Review staff objectives, assess performance, establish and follow up work plans

 

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • Advanced University degree (Master’s Degree) in business, economics, audit, public administration or related field, including course work in finance, accounting and budgeting is required.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience in financial management, ideally within multicultural international environments. UN experience would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies in analytical, financial, interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.  Knowledge of an additional UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.
