UNICEF Pacific is seeking the expertise of a local Vanuatu national to support MoET in the development and design of a user-friendly ECCE MQSS pictorial guidebook.

Purpose of the Assignment

The purpose of this consultancy is to support MoET in the development and design of a user-friendly ECCE MQSS pictorial guidebook.

Assignment Tasks

Under the supervision of the UNICEF Pacific Education Specialist, with support from the Education Consultant as well as Communications Officer in Port Vila and in close collaboration with the consultant developing the M&E framework and tools based in Port Vila, the ECCE MQSS photographer/design consultant will:Visit ECCE centres to photograph infrastructure, materials and activities in line with the national ECCE MQSS.

  1. In close consultation with MoET as well as the Education and Communications teams in Fiji and Vanuatu, develop an ECCE MQSS pictorial guidebook for ECCE teachers and community members ensuring a user-friendly format, layout, and design that incorporates the photographs.

Expected Deliverables

  1. Provide three designs for consideration and selection of MoET and UNICEF by the 2nd of August 2017.
  2. Compendium of at least 250 high resolution ECCE MQSS photographs by the 11th of August 2017.
  3. In collaboration with MoET and in close consultation with the Education and Communications teams in Fiji and Vanuatu, draft ECCE MQSS pictorial guidebook of about 40 pages for comments by MoET and UNICEF by the 18th of August 2017
  4. Finalized ECCE MQSS pictorial guidebook meeting UNICEF standards for print and photography by the 25th of August 2017

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

Education

Completion of tertiary education in the specific area of photography, and/or graphic design, and /or illustration, and /or multimedia, and/or art production or in lieu completion of secondary education with at least an additional 3 years of relevant work experience

Years of relevant experience

Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 5 years work experience in graphic design and/or illustration.
  • Proven experience in graphic design as demonstrated in completed graphics works – in particular the use of Adobe CS 4 and 5 Suite
  • Proven experience in image capturing, manipulation and development
  • Previous work experience in Vanuatu is an advantage

  • Ability to produce quality work within a deadline and under pressure
  • Highly developed communications skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Languages

  • An excellent command of the English language – both written and oral
  • Fluency in written and spoken Bislama required. Knowledge of French useful
