Position Summary

UNFPA Country Office (CO) is seeking for an Individual Consultant to support its Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Project in Bioko Norte and Kie Ntem regions, funded by Noble Energy company, in its Reproductive Health commodities provision & health facilities improvement component, namely to conduct the update of the existing official Essential Medicines List of Equatorial Guinea.

The purpose of this consultancy it to ensure a substantive quality assurance framework for the work of the project, in particular in its area of Reproductive Health commodities provision, including Family Planning (FP). It also aims at providing the country with a key tool, which allows for state-of-the-art, evidence-based policy decision-making and overall improvement of healthcare quality.

This consultancy also ensures that internationally established standards, tools and guidance in RMNH are used, both for the project management and for capacity development of partner institutions involved in the implementation of the Nobel Energy GE Ltd-funded project.

The objective of this consultancy is to obtain an updated version of the official Essential Medicines List of Equatorial Guinea, in particular in the area of RMNH, according to the latest WHO guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

Academic requirements:

  • Post-graduate University Degree or equivalent (preferably PhD) in health related area, preferably pharmaceutics or chemistry;

Experience:

  • 10 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in substantive area;
  • Demonstrated expertise in substantive area, ideally in reproductive, maternal and neonatal health;
  • Experience in similar studies (desirable);
  • Knowledge of Equatorial Guinea health context is an asset;
  • Excellent written communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Language(s):

  • Fluency in oral and written Spanish,
  • Fluency in oral and written English/French (desirable);
