Position Summary

UNFPA Country Office (CO) is seeking for an individual consultant to support its Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Project in Bioko Norte and Kie Ntem regions, funded by Noble Energy company, in its Health Information System Strengthening component.

The purpose of the Health Information System (HIS) Consultancy is to support the HIS national framework development and effective implementation, in particular in the two regions covered by the project - Bioko Norte and Kie Ntem -, taking in consideration the internationally established HIS standards and guidelines.

The objective of this consultancy is to provide UNFPA Noble Energy project team with a key expertise, both for the project effective development and for capacity development of partners involved in its implementation, as well as to ensure quality of the project, accuracy of the analysis undertaken, and accuracy on the data provided to the Donor, the Government of Equatorial Guinea and other parties.

Qualifications and Experience

For Individual Consultants:

  • Post-graduate University Degree or equivalent (preferably PhD) in HIS, statistics, Public Health, health, epidemiology or substantive area;
  • 10 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in substantive area;
  • Minimum 5 years applied experience in research and design of HIS related tools and products;
  • Demonstrated expertise in substantive area, ideally in reproductive, maternal and neonatal health;
  • Experience in similar HIS development and implementation work (desirable);
  • Knowledge of Equatorial Guinea health context is an asset;
  • Fluency in oral and written Spanish, and English/French (desirable);
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
