Livelihoods Assistant 
Duty Station [Sulaymaniyah governorate] 
 
We are looking for two qualified livelihoods assistants with at least 1 year of experience in livelihoods. The successful candidates will be working in Sulaymaniyah governorate.  
 
 
Who are we?  
Danish Refugee Council is a leading protection agency pursuing our mandate to protect and promote durable solutions to displacement-affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), DRC apply a regional approach with operational presence in Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Iraq.  
Present in Iraq since 2003, DRC is today operational in the Kurdish governorates, in and around Baghdad and in several South-Central governorates. Focused both on the influx of Syrian refugees and the current IDP crisis, DRC is providing assistance in a range of sectors including Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Protection, Livelihoods, Emergency Response (including food security, cash, and NFIs), WASH, Shelter and Mine Action. The Iraq programme presently employs some 450 national staff and 45 international staff, and is growing to meet new, emerging needs associated with ongoing and recent conflict in multiple locations.  
 
 
About the job 
The Livelihoods Assistant is responsible for implementing livelihoods projects in the field on a daily basis activity including main tasks as data collection, beneficiary registration and selection, liaising with relevant stakeholders, monitoring ongoing Vocational trainings, beneficiaries’ livelihoods post-cash distribution. 
 
 
Reporting lines 
  • Reports to: Livelihoods Team Leader 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Assisting the Livelihoods team in networking with the stakeholders such as local authorities, vocational and professional training centers, NGOs and INGOs and other relevant project partners.
  • Livelihood project assistant is responsible in communicating and mobilizing for the livelihoods projects with the target communities according to the DRC SOPs.  
  • Beneficiary registration, identification and selection for the livelihood projects at the DRC Job Seeker Support Center in Erbil.
  • In cooperation with the livelihood officers and with the support from livelihood team leader collecting beneficiaries data according to DRC selection criteria per each activity.
  • Implementing livelihoods projects in the field following DRC procedures.
  • Delivering relevant livelihoods training courses to the beneficiaries such as: business management skills, employability, language skills trainings.
  • Conduct daily project site visits.
  • Ensuring that beneficiary documentation is correctly captured and filed for all the livelihoods activities.  
  • Monitoring of project sites, beneficiaries, distributions and following up daily on any issues that arise.  
  • Ensure that the project engages local stakeholders and develops local capacity for longer term sustainability
  • Any other assignment by the line manager 
 
 
About you 
Generic competences: 
  • Understanding of DRC’s work and ability to follow up on project sites.  
  • A suitable qualification or experience in Development work
  • Knowledge of local laws and regulations  
  • Punctual reliable and efficient
  • Knowledge of Livelihoods activities  
  • Good communication skills.
  • Skill of problem solving.
  • Ability of making decisions. 
 
Preferred attributes: 
  • Prior experience working with NGOs or INGOs
  • Experience with Livelihoods programs  
  • English is an asset. 
 
Languages:
  • Kurdish and Arabic are essential.

We offer 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until 28-Febraury-2018, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 10-September-2017.
