Purpose of the Assignment

Develop a series of communications-related projects that will assist UNICEF GAO in its outreach activities in the coming months.

Assignment Tasks

  • Engage with relevant staff within the Office to determine needs – both in terms of planned outreach activities and content;
  • Utilize his or her technical expertise to support a range of communications and advocacy related products
  • Provide timely and on-going feedback and input to emerging partnership and programme initiatives requiring visibility and or communication content.

Expected Deliverables

  • A rapid assessment of the needed communication tools and products in consultation with UNICEF GAO staff.
  • Development of content and design for a communication toolkit that includes:

    • A well-designed folder including an overview of the Gulf-sub region and UNICEF’s role.
    • Country sheets outlining UNICEF’s current and potential areas of contribution and partnerships.
    • Summary brochure on the Gulf Area Office – its presence, current operations and overall partnerships.
  • An updated Advocacy Plan for UNICEF GAO (using the existing Plan as guide).
  • Documented communications-focused inputs to various office- priorities, including (a) presentations for consultations related to the next country programme, (b) communications, visibility and advocacy for new partnership frameworks, (c) on-going programming priorities (such as the introduction of early childhood development programming).
  • Prepare a series of presentation materials, including powerpoint slide decks and talking points for UNICEF GAO management to use as required in meetings with prospective partners

 

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

Fluent in English (written and spoken) and preferably Arabic

 

Education

Master’s degree in Communications, Social Marketing, or Social Sciences

 

Years of relevant experience

Over 10 years  experience in relevant fields (social sciences, social marketing, and communications), experiences and demonstrated knowledge of the Gulf region, experience working with the UN in different capacities would be an asset.

Competencies of Successful Candidate

Demonstrated communication skills, including prior experience developing similar content and materials (examples to be provided on request), excellent writing skills and ability to develop appropriate materials for varied audiences.
