Finance and Administrative Assistant - Yangon

Please note as this is a local post, International IDEA will bear no costs relating to relocation of the selected candidate to the duty station. This position is open to those legally authorized to live and work in Myanmar.

Context

With the objective to support inclusive and peaceful electoral processes, empower electoral stakeholders and strengthen the democratic transition in Myanmar, a consortium of experienced international assistance providers has been formed to develop a unique project aimed at building knowledge and trust, necessary for credible elections. The consortium, led by International IDEA, seeks to foster communication between electoral and peace actors aimed at generating a shared understanding of the crucial role these two processes will play in a sustainable democratic transition; emerging synergies will be used as far as applicable.

The project is designed to support the electoral reform process in Myanmar and create an enabling environment for credible and inclusive elections, and to better position the EU as a major partner of the government in support of reforms.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processes invoices, project advance requests, project expenditure reports etc;
  • Checks and verifies payment documentation;
  • Assists with expenditure control in relation to the office and checks expenditure against budgets;
  • Assists with banking and payment processing;
  • Manages petty cash;
  • Prepares and supports the administration and performance management of Contracts and Agreements for service providers and/or partner organizations;
  • Assists in preparing cash forecasts;
  • Organizes staff travel including cost control, travel advances, travel claims and other associated issues; when applicable, assists external consultants;
  • Checks compliance of financial documents with International IDEA’s financial and operations manual.
  • Maintains and updates the asset register for the Yangon Office.
  • Ensures compliance with the procurement policy, ensuring payments are according to signed commitments and implemented according to the terms of agreement/contract.
  • Supports the Finance and Administrative Officer with the development and monitoring of financial management information systems.

  • Finance and Administrative Manager.

Approximate Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience within a similar role;
  • A degree in accounting or administration.
  • Experience of working in an international context, e.g. in an intergovernmental organization is considered an advantage.        

Terms of Contract:

Contract duration: Six (6) month fixed term appointment..

Remuneration: MMK 924 100 per month.
