Position Summary:

The Population and Development (P&D) Specialist is located in the China Country Office (CO) and reports to the UNFPA Deputy Representative.

The P&D Specialist ensures the effective management of UNFPA activities in the areas of population and development with a focus on integration of population dynamics considerations into national and subnational development planning and strategies, and advancing policies on ageing, urbanization and migration that are supportive of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Agenda and Agenda 2030 and related South-South and triangular cooperation (SSTC) initiatives. S/he leads project formulation and evaluation, joint programming initiatives and national development frameworks. S/he leads the P&D programme team and collaborates with the CO’s operations/administrative support staff.

Requirements:

 Education: 

Advanced degree in health, demography and/or other related social science field.

Knowledge and Experience:

Five years professional experience in the field of development and population activities, with experience in programme/ project management.

Languages:

Fluency in Chinese is required. A working knowledge of English is required.

Other Desirable Skills:

Proficiency in current office software applications.
