NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

Job description

  • Represent NRC as a humanitarian organization in community outreach meetings and in access negotiation meetings with government and non-government stakeholders
  • Strategically network with interlocutors, in a fully principled and transparent manner.
  • Coordination of humanitarian negotiations, messaging and community outreach plans with all NRC field offices.
  • Work with NRC field program teams to build the capacity of NRC staff to negotiate access, including training and sensitization of staff to principled humanitarian access negotiations.
  • In departments, particularly emergency team, to lead program teams in community engagement through longer term “secondment” to that department.
  • Ensure compliance with NRC policies, CC tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy

Qualifications

  • University Degree in management, politics or a relevant topic
  • 5+ years of experience in humanitarian field operations, government relations or community liaison for humanitarian organization.
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Demonstrated experience with direct humanitarian access negotiations
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
