INTRODUCTION

Based in Seoul, The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an intergovernmental organization founded to support and promote a model of economic growth known as "green growth", which targets key aspects of economic performance such a poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. GGGI works with countries around the world, building their capacity and working collaboratively on green growth policies that can impact the lives of millions. The organization partners with countries, multilateral institutions, government bodies, and private sector to help build economies that grow strongly and are more efficient and sustainable in the use of natural resources, less carbon intensive, and more resilient to climate change.
GGGI has a diverse portfolio of programs in developing countries around the world. These in-country programs, together with global products and services, focus on delivering results through an integrated approach of evidence-based green growth planning and implementation aligned to countries’ development priorities. The organization also focuses on knowledge development and management activities which build a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; as well as building the conditions for public and private green infrastructure investments.
The Governance and Strategy / Partnerships / Communications(SPC) Department plays a critical part in providing a platform for policy dialogue on green growth between member countries, as well as a forum for members to oversee the delivery of the Institute’s Strategy Plan, Country Planning Frameworks and Work Program and Budget by striving for the:

  • Continuity of governance organs;
  • Compliance for document submission;
  • Preparation of the high-quality governance document; and
  • Professionally managed sessions/meetings.
  • Deepening relations with the Host Country and Developing select areas of collaboration with the key potential stakeholders

POSITION SUMMARY


The Associate will work with the Directors of Governance and Strategy / Partnerships / Communications(SPC) to support effective operations of their departments. The Associate will be responsible for a combination of technical support and administrative tasks.

PURPOSE

The Associate will assist the departments by supporting tasks related to technical and administrative management for the Office, editing and designing publications and other project deliverables, procurement actions, and Departments-led workshops and related project events and activities (e.g., to process travel arrangements and other logistical arrangements).

ENGAGEMENT 

  • Engage and support managers for implementation of Governance/SPC department related general managerial, technical and administrative processes;
  • Proactively liaise with staff in divisions within GGGI as well as external counterparts in GGGI member countries, research and academic institutions, and other organization with which GGGI collaborates. 

DELIVERY


The main roles and responsibilities of the Associate include:

  • Providing administrative, logistical and technical support to the Governance and SPC Directors while working with various ODG teams and staff;
  • Coordinating meeting schedules with internal and external stakeholders, preparing official correspondence, attending relevant meetings and drafting minutes, and regularly updating the office calendar (events, travel, and leave);
  • Serving as the lead custodian for organizing, processing, recording, controlling, and archiving relevant Governance/SPC documents, including but not limited to approval memos, contracts, log frames, deliverables, reporting documents, knowledge products, and administrative documents for payments, procurement, and financial reporting/audit;
  • Collaborate with other units and divisions of GGGI on identified joint activities to ensure integrated delivery as 'One GGGI';
  • Supporting the preparation and logistical planning for various events when required (i.e., workshops, trainings, conferences);
  • Maintaining current distribution lists, phone/email address lists of project/other contacts;
  • Other duties assigned by the Governance/SPC Directors

 

REQUIREMENTS


QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Education: A university degree in economics, public policy, business administration, international relations and/or development, environmental management, or other related disciplines related to green growth, climate change, and/or sustainable development;
  • Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience in a relevant sector with a public or private sector organization(s);
  • Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is a must; knowledge of another relevant language (especially Korean) is an asset. 

FUNCTIONAL 

  • General understanding of the concept of green growth and sustainable development challenges in developing and emerging countries;
  • Team orientation, with excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Ability to pay attention to details while not losing the sight of a big picture;
  • Experience supporting administrative tasks and using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or similar software platforms is a plus;
  • Experience working with developing countries, preferably on policy consultation and project development is a plus;
  • Experience with formatting and designing publications using graphic design software such as InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or Photoshop is an asset;
