Driver, Multiple positions

Functional Responsibilities

Under the guidance and supervision of the Logistics Officer, the Driver will perform the following functions:

  • Provides reliable and secure driving services by:-

a)      Driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers;

b)      Collecting and delivering mail, documents and other items;

c)        Meeting official personnel at the airport and facilitating immigration and customs formalities as required;

  • Ensures proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
  • Ensures the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle by checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tries, etc.; performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs; and ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean;
  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts;
  • Ensures that immediate steps as required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident;
  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice;
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education

  • Secondary Education Required;
  • Technical/Professional Diploma in automotive engineering is an asset
Certification
  •  Hold a valid South Sudanese driver’s license

Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a Driver required;
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repairs is desired;
  • Previous experience as a driver with NGO or international organization is desired;
  • Security and first aid training is desired;
  • UN security system experience is desired;
  • Experience in vehicles/fleet management is desired.

Languages

  • Fluency in written and oral English  is required;
  • Knowledge of  Arabic language is desired.

Contract duration: One year initially, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.


This is local position and therefore open to the Nationals of South Sudan and applicants who have a valid residency work permit
