Project Title: Oxygen Therapy for Low Resource Settings
Purpose of internship: UNICEF Supply Division is seeking up to two interns to assist in the oxygen therapy project. The Oxygen Therapy Project, funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) is a strategic collaboration between UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO) and additional partners to provide access to and utilization of safe and appropriate oxygen system products, critical for increasing access to life saving oxygen, in resource-limited settings. This is an exciting opportunity for a young professional currently enrolled in a masters or PhD program who can contribute to the success of this important project while gaining global health expertise. The unpaid internship, based in Copenhagen, is for 6 months and has flexibility between part-time and full time.
Main Duties / Responsibilities: Research related to the development of specifications and guidelines for oxygen therapy equipment for treatment of respiratory illnesses in low resource settings
Duration of Internship: 16-24 weeks
Start Date: As soon as possible
Expected Deliverables:
- Well cited research on key oxygen therapy components
- Annotated bibliography
- Written review of WHO and other global policy around delivery of oxygen therapy, highlighting discrepancies and ambiguity related to the project decision-making tool
- Substantial contributions to specifications and guidance on essential oxygen therapy products.
Educational Background: Registered in a master’s degree program having completed a Bachelor’s degree level in Engineering, biology, nursing, respiratory therapy, pre-med, epidemiology, public health, global development, regulatory affairs or other relevant fields related to medical device procurement, installation, and maintenance. (Preferred)
Experience (preferred in any of the following areas):
- Research, publications in relation to global health in general and oxygen therapy in particular.
- Specifications development for procurement and/or product development.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
