National Consultancy on conducting trainings on Basic principles and methods of social inclusion services for children with disabilities

Baku (Azerbaijan)

The objective of this assignment is to support capacity building of child development workers and nurses of the Child rehabilitation centers of MoLSPP providing training package and conducting training program on “Basic principles and methods of social inclusion services for children with disabilities”. The development of the training package needs to be guided by the internationally recognized principles and practices of child development services.

Purpose of the Assignment

The objective of this assignment is to support capacity building of child development workers and nurses of the Child rehabilitation centers of MoLSPP providing training package and conducting training program on “Basic principles and methods of social inclusion services for children with disabilities”.

 The development of the training package needs to be guided by the internationally recognized principles and practices of child development services.

Assignment Tasks

Within this position national consultant has the following tasks and responsibilities:

 Develop a training package (presentations and handouts) on “Basic principles and methods of social inclusion services for children with disabilities” in Azerbaijani language which will include minimum:

    1. Basics of child development and inclusive child development;
    2. Medical versus Social Models of Care;
    3. Working with common diagnosis;
    4. Modern methods of rehabilitation;
    5. Basic principles and ethic in working with a child and family;
    6. Child abuse and child protection.

       2. Conducting approximately one month training program with theoretical and practical sessions for the staff of the rehabilitation centers of the MoLSPP (trainings will be carried out at Baku Child Rehabilitation Center).

       3. Revise and finalize the training package. Provide recommendations on improvement of the quality of child development services based on post training evaluation.

Expected Deliverables

10 working days, by 30 September

1.       Draft training package (presentations and handouts) on “Basic principles and methods of social inclusion services for children with disabilities”

2 working days, by 5 October

2.       Final draft version  of the Training package incorporating feedbacks from UNICEF

28 working days by  4 December

3.       14 days of theoretical and 14 days of practical sessions to around 15-20 staff members (working in Child Rehabilitation Centers of MoLSPP in Baku) on “Basic principles and methods of social inclusion services for children with disabilities”

2 working days by 7 December

4.       Final version of the training package and a consultancy report to summarize the work including feedbacks and recommendations on improvement of the quality of child development services based on post training evaluation

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

 

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology,  Child development, or related field;
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience (with a minimum 5 years’ experience as a trainer) in the area of child development; 
  • In depth knowledge of child development, social inclusion services for Children with Disabilities, social work and child protection;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work in a team with tight deadlines;
  • Familiarity with UNICEF’s mission and mandate;
  • Fluency in Azerbaijani, knowledge of English would be asset.
