UNICEF Tbilisi seeks a Deputy Representative to promote the rights of every child in Georgia through its programmes, advocacy and operations.

How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Tbilisi seeks a Deputy Representative to promote the rights of every child in Georgia through its programmes, advocacy and operations.

The Deputy Representative reports to the CO Representative for general supervision and direction. The DR supports the Representative on the overall management of the CO and for coordinating closely with the different program sections all phases of the Country Office Program from formulation to delivery of results in accordance with the UNICEF Strategic Plans, standards of performance and accountability framework, ethics and integrity.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

An advanced university degree is required in Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Social Development, Development Planning, or other relevant discipline.

At least eight years responsible relevant experience in human-rights based area of public sector social policy and development and programme management, including UN system field experience in strategic programme management in an international development context. Experience in programme development, monitoring and implementation preferably in a middle income country with significant ethnic or geographic disparities -as well as, as is experience in development of upstream programme strategies that lead to documented progressive realization of the rights of children in the short and medium term.

The candidate will have:

  • Strong experience in conflict-sensitive analysis and programming – dealing with fragile contexts and frozen conflicts. 
  • Experience in Middle income country with significant  ethnic or geographic disparities;
  • Demonstrated and excellent skills in programme coordination and programme planning;  
  • Working experience with OSCE or EU institutions;
  • A definite asset is demonstrated experience in adolescent and youth programming

Oral and written proficiency in English is required.  Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
