The Division of Financial and Administrative Management (DFAM) at UNICEF HQ strives to provide relevant, accurate and timely information to the UNICEF executive leadership to facilitate robust decision-making and strategic direction recognizing the needs of children across the world. DFAM strives to ensure that financial resources are fully attributed to the Strategic Plan results chain and are made available in a timely manner, and used effectively and efficiently. Purpose of the Assignment

The Division of Financial and Administrative Management (DFAM) at UNICEF HQ strives to provide relevant, accurate and timely information to the UNICEF executive leadership to facilitate robust decision-making and strategic direction recognizing the needs of children across the world. This is achieved through periodic measurement, transparent reporting of financial and administrative performance, and the development and application of risk-informed policy, improved procedures and innovative systems.

Assignment Tasks

The Administrative Specialist supports the full lifecycle of projects in the discipline of governance, risk and control in DFAM that help UNICEF to more effectively and systematically identify and manage the many different sources of risk it faces.

  • Reporting to the Project Manager, the Administrative Specialist will support the internal and external cost budgeting process, project and stakeholder management and daily oversight of a portfolio of other projects within DFAM.
  • This person will be responsible for updating project details and status on the various sites in Share Point as well as ensuring project status reports and financials are accurate and up to date.
  • The person will also be responsible for scheduling and arranging meetings, including developing agendas and producing meeting minutes.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

Education

Advanced University degree in audit, legal, criminology, finance, accounting, and business administration.

Experience

  • Prior experience working with the UN or similar non-profit organizations.
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies in analytical, interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.  Knowledge of an additional UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in project management in an international organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the areas of audit, internal controls and/or fraud investigation.
