Finance Team Leader- DDG 
Duty Station [Erbil, Mosul and surrounding areas] 
 
We are looking for a highly qualified Finance Team Leader with at least 3 years of experience in finance. Experience in the NGO sector is an asset. 
 
 
Note: This position is for DDG (Danish Demining Group) which is a unit of DRC. 
 
 
Who are we?  
Danish Refugee Council is a leading protection agency pursuing our mandate to protect and promote durable solutions to displacement-affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), DRC apply a regional approach with operational presence in Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Iraq.  
Present in Iraq since 2003, DRC is today operational in the Kurdish governorates, in and around Baghdad and in several South-Central governorates. Focused both on the influx of Syrian refugees and the current IDP crisis, DRC is providing assistance in a range of sectors including Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Protection, Livelihoods, Emergency Response (including food security, cash, and NFIs), WASH, Shelter and Mine Action. The Iraq programme presently employs some 450 national staff and 45 international staff, and is growing to meet new, emerging needs associated with ongoing and recent conflict in multiple locations.  
 
 
About the job 
The Finance Team Leader is responsible for coordination of all finance related tasks in the DRC Erbil office and Field offices. 
 
Reporting lines 
  • Reports to: Support Services Manager in DDG  
  • Subordinates: Finance Assistant 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
  • In close cooperation with the Finance Manager and Head of Office reinforce existing procedures and systems for financial management and control in compliance with guidelines set out in the finance chapters of DRC’s Operations Handbook, the country’s laws, and donor requirements;
  • Brief the Head of Office on matters associated with finance on a monthly basis;
  • Work closely with the Head of Office to ensure that thorough and effective budgetary control is undertaken in Erbil office and sub offices
  • Maintain a continuous overview of funding levels and pay particular attention to shared support costs requesting support cost rebooking’s as necessary
  • Responsible for collecting rebooking’s from all PM’s and submitting them monthly with the finance rebookings to coordination office;
  • Oversee the project-end procedures, ensuring that all payments are finalized within the liquidation period and all payments have been committed within the project period
  • Ensure monthly meetings are held with project team leaders/lead officers to discuss key issues, reasons for these, and any remedial action that is required;
  • Prepare for local audits in collaboration with Coordination office fielding requests as needed;
  • Update the IDRA Monthly.
 
About you 
Experience and technical competencies:  
  • Relevant university degree in Business Administration, Accounting or relevant area
  • Minimum of three (3) year experience in finance position, experience in the NGO sector is an asset \
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills with a proven ability to work with a wide range of managers and staff members
  • Good facilitation skills, coaching skills  
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work under time pressure
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills both writing and oral
  • Excellent interpersonal and team work skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, databases)
 
Preferred attributes 
  •  Experience in working with international NGOs
  • A minimum of two years’ managerial experience 
 
Languages:  
  • Fluent in spoken and written Kurdish, English and Arabic.

We offer 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until 31-December-2017, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 2-October-2017.  
 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff. This position will be placed at level D1
