We are looking for experienced Project Manager (GIZ) will be in charge of overseeing the implementation of activities under GIZ funding in Irbid, Mafraq, and Karak with potentially smaller short term projects further south. Working closely with the Head of Program, Livelihood Unit as well as DRC support services, the GIZ Project Manager and his/her team will ensure that all project objectives are met in each target location.

DRC is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. With the vision that no displaced person must be in want of help to find protection and durable solutions, DRC provides assistance and protection to conflict-affected in many of the major conflicts in Asia, Africa and Middle East. The assistance can consist of relief and other humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and support to returning home, and the promotion of durable solutions. 
 
 
About the job 
 
Project Manager (GIZ) will be in charge of overseeing the implementation of activities under GIZ funding in Irbid, Mafraq, and Karak with potentially smaller short term projects further South. Working closely with the Head of Program, Livelihood Unit as well as DRC support services, the GIZ Project Manager and his/her team will ensure that all project objectives are met in each target location. The Project Manager will also act as main focal point for the donor as well as all communications pertaining to the project and related activities. 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
Project Management 
• Ensure a timely and quality implementation of the project outputs as per agreement signed with the donor; 
• Manage all aspects of the project in the most efficient and effective manner; 
• Manage project budget through regular meetings with Finance Manager and provide financial risk analysis when required; 
• Provide requested monthly and quarterly reporting to the HOP and take lead in all donor reporting requirements; 
• Recruit, interview, and hire new project staff; 
• Management and appraisal of the project team members; 
• Oversee performance evaluation and identify capacity building needs; 
• Support the PQM to ensure regular monitoring of project activities and impact; 
• Participate in country strategic reviews, linking with the project itself and any potential future program developments (including fundraising) of similar nature.  
 
Technical Overview 
• Ensure recommendations and guidance provided by the Livelihood Unit are incorporated into field activities and work plans; 
• Facilitate the roll-out of technical resources, materials, and tools for project deliverables;  
• Engage in regular communication with Livelihood Manager and Livelihoods Technical Coordinator on project implementation strategy and needed support; 
• Ensure all activities are in line in line with DRC SOPs and protection standards; 
 
Coordination and Representation 
• Represent DRC at any coordination meetings with the donor and/ or partners; 
• Act as focal point with all local partners contracted by GIZ to co-implement the project; 
• Ensure a constructive and cordial relationship is maintained with all local counterparts and partner throughout the project implementation; 
• Meet with local government officials, private sector actors, representative organizations, and community leaders as needed in order to facilitate project objectives.  
• Coordinate with North and South Field Coordinators to ensure adequate representation and strong relation with local authorities and other relevant local stakeholders; 
• Manage regular donor field visits; 
 
About you 
 
To be successful in this role you must have:  
 
Required qualifications/experience:  
• Bachelors degree in social sciences, humanities, development studies or other relevant fields. 
• At least 5 years professional experience in the humanitarian sector 
• Excellent knowledge of the project management cycle 
• Previous experience working in the North of Jordan on projects targeting Syrian refugees 
• Previous experience managing protection and/or livelihood projects 
• Willingness to live and be based in Irbid, with weekly travel to Karak and Mafraq 
• Previous experience working with GIZ 
• Ability to communicate key information in an easy to understand, informative and collaborative manner 
• Good knowledge of the Core Humanitarian Standards or other accountability measures/standards. 
• High integrity and willingness to conduct her/himself transparently and open to scrutiny 
• Arabic (fluent) 
• English (excellent)

We offer 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a six months contract including three months’ probation period, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work on November 2017 and be willing to Based in Irbid, with frequent travel to Mafraq, Karak and Amman. Stays in the South will be required.  
 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals. This position will be placed at Grade F.
