Forum Syd is a civil society member organisation that works with development issues from a rights-based perspective. Our vision is “a just and sustainable world where all people have the power to effect change”. We work with advocacy and capacity building of partner organisations around the world, on issues relating to democracy and human rights, gender equality, and environment and climate change. We mediate grants from Sida (the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) to Swedish organisations cooperating with local partners in approximately 70 countries. We have offices in Sweden, Vilnius, Cambodia, Colombia, Kenya and Somalia.
The Secretary General´s office - Stockholm
The Secretary General´s office is responsible for the overall strategic development of Forum Syd and for representing Forum Syd externally. The Secretary General’s Office is the global process owner of fundraising and is responsible for the organizational relationship with members and other stakeholders. Furthermore the Secretary General’s Office is responsible for providing the board with the information, documentation and support that is needed for the board to fulfill its strategic role. It is the responsibility of the Secretary General’s Office to ensure that the strategic direction set by the board is operationalized. This includes facilitation of the operational planning and follow-up processes.
Position description for a Fundraising Officer
The Fundraising Office will develop and maintain the perspective and adequate calls for proposal and potential institutional and private funds, coordinate and support all global fundraising activities and develop fundraising methods.
Areas of responsibility
Develop and maintain a comprehensive perspective of adequate calls for proposal and potential institutional and private funds
Facilitate and coordinate all global fundraising initiatives and activities in the organization.
Develop existing and new fundraising methods and tools
Support and advice Hubs, country and Head Office in issues related to applications, fundraising etc.
Other tasks related to the work in the Secretary General office and delegated by line manager
Contribute to the organisational learning and development of Forum Syd in general, and of the Secretary General’s Office in particular.
Contribute to a constructive and good work environment in Forum Syd in general, and in the Secretary General’s Office in particular.
Qualifications required
Relevant academic degree or equivalent qualifications obtained in another way
Proven expertise and results in institutional fundraising including experience in EU applications.
Work experience from the development, aid or humanitarian sector
Good knowledge of development trends.
Good knowledge in the rights based approach
Good communication skills
Excellent ability to express oneself orally and in writing in Swedish and English
Personal qualities
Excellent in building relations and reach out to external stakeholders.
High level of flexibility, independence and self-directing
Ability to think creative and strategic
This position is a full time permanent position with six months probationary period, starting as soon as possible. This position is located at Forum Syd's head office in Stockholm, Sweden. Duty travels are part of the position
