The People and Change Group (PCG) helps UNOPS empowering people, driving organisational excellence and managing change across the organisation in order to help UNOPS deliver on its strategic intent.

We are a newly formed team, bringing together experienced professionals with strategic HR management, organisational design, change management expertise – all of us having a passion for achieving results and building innovation into our way of doing business. To get the job done, we structured our deliverables into six core work streams: Change management, Organisational excellence, Innovation, Talent management, Business partnering and Learning.

Background Information - Job-specific

The People and Change Group (PCG) helps UNOPS empowering people, developing talent, driving organisational excellence and managing change across the organisation in order to help the organisation deliver on its strategic intent.

We are currently looking for an Intern to join our dynamic and diverse team.  The Intern will have a pivotal role in the PCG Analytics team, contributing with building a solid foundation for analytics and data driven decision making. The role will provide internal support to a worldwide portfolio of projects and engagements in terms of analytics and reporting capabilities. 

The internship will offer insight into working in a United Nations organization and experience in a dynamic, international environment. 

Functional Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:        
  • Conducting research and analysis (qualitative and quantitative) in order to support the preparation of background information for projects and engagements;

  • Developing metrics and running reports based on data analysis and statistics as well as supporting the communication of results and findings to PCG and other UNOPS units;

  • Assisting in validation and verification of data and contributing to knowledge sharing through documentation of lessons learned;

  • Assisting in developing communication materials for PCG engagements, clearly structuring messages and narratives based on quantitative business information;

  • Supporting other PCG projects as required.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

  • Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree or be pursuing an advanced university degree, such as a Masters or a PhD, or be a recent graduate from such studies (within the last 3 years);

  • Preferred area of study is one of the following: Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Social Sciences, Engineering, Physical/Natural Sciences, Data Science, Information and Communication Technology or other related fields that entail a quantitative or numerical focus. 

Experience:        

  • While no professional experience is required for an internship, experience in the field of Business Analytics, Numerical/Statistical analysis, Human Resources, Change Management, Finance, Business Process Management or similar fields is considered an asset;

  • Strong computer literacy: MS Office standard programs essential, in particular proficiency with MS Excel and familiarity with MS PowerPoint and MS SharePoint is required.  Experience working with dashboards and reporting in BI tools (Power BI) and database handling knowledge (SQL) are considered a distinctive asset. 

Language requirements:        

  • Fluency in both written and oral English is required;

  • Knowledge of a second UN language (in particular French and/or Spanish) is a distinct asset.

Contract duration: 6 months

This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship. 

Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Further, UNOPS may provide a one time travel lumpsum of 500 USD. However, they must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel, insurance coverage and any necessary visas.
