Senior Project Officer

We are looking for a highly qualified Senior Project Officer (SPO) to manage the overall coordination and implementation of Protection activities implemented inside and outside Sanad Community Center in Karak. 
 
 
Who are we? 
 
DRC is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. With the vision that no displaced person must be in want of help to find protection and durable solutions, DRC provides assistance and protection to conflict-affected in many of the major conflicts in Asia, Africa and Middle East. The assistance can consist of relief and other humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and support to returning home, and the promotion of durable solutions. 
 
About the job 
 
The SPO will oversee all Protection activities and ensure proper and effective coordination between in-center and outreach activities as well as link with relevant service providers. The SPO to contribute to DRC’s strategy of providing a service hub for vulnerable people, as well as strengthening capacities for community based protection. For this, the SPO will manage the outreach, Protection and PSS officers. S/he will also closely coordinate with technical and support staff working inside the center and in the Head Office, to ensure effective coordination of activities. 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
• Plan, manage and oversee all in-center, outreach and community-based activities related to the Protection program and ensure optimal coordination and links between the different center projects/services/units 
• In close coordination with the Project Manager ensure that all project deliverables related to the protection and psychosocial support components of the program are met. 
• Assist the Project Manager in ensuring adequate coordination between all activities implemented in and around the community center  
• Link with technical Protection staff to ensure activities are implemented in line with relevant standards and SOPs 
• Link with other service providers in the area to facilitate exchange of services and expertise 
• In close coordination with the Project Manager, ensure community center and community based activities are regularly adjusted to changing context and needs 
• Communicate, collaborate, share information and ensure a transparent, efficient and accurate flow of information field staff, the Project Manager and the Amman Head Office 
• Regularly analyze the community center attendance and suggest innovative approaches to ensure a regular high daily presence of center users 
• Link with program quality team to ensure optimal service satisfaction rate 
• Link with the communication assistant to ensure regular effective communication around the community center and activities proposed  
• Develop clear work plan for people under his/her management and fix set of qualitative and quantitative monthly targets 
• Provide all necessary support and oversight to all staff, and committee members leading to capacity building; 
• Mentor and support the teams through regular one-to-one supervision and performance appraisals; 
• Organize regular team meetings to ensure effective coordination between staff members 
• Take part in weekly all staff meeting organized by the project manager 
• Prepare monthly report for project maanger 
 
 
About you 
 
To be successful in this role you must have:  
 
Required qualifications/experience: 
• Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences or related field, Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure with minimum supervision, excellent computer skills - Word, Excel and Internet, Fluency in English language and Arabic. 
• At least five years proven and successful track record of management experience in the humanitarian/development sector;  
• Familiarity with protection programming and principles 
• Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, open personal qualities, clear sense of boundaries.  
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint and Outlook);  
• Strong training and facilitation skills in terms of staff development initiatives and in-center trainings;  
• Strong human resources skills, ability to manage personalities and build cohesive teams to work toward common objectives;  
• Clear communication abilities (written and spoken) and reporting skills.

We offer 
 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a six months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start on November, 2017 and be willing and able to work in Karak-Jordan.  
 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals. This position will be placed at Grade E.
