Technician Training Experience

The TTE programme is aimed at technicians who are looking to get a first, great professional experience to further their career, or before they embark on advanced study programmes.

We welcome applications from talented technicians who will have the opportunity to work in a diversity of fields at the cutting edge of technology: electronics, electricity, mechanics, IT (including sysadmin/data centre technician), vacuum, cooling and ventilation, safety, radioprotection, survey engineering, are but a few of the examples of the many domains in which successful applicants will learn and contribute their knowledge.

• You are a national of a CERN Member State

• You have a Technical Diploma in the field of mechanics, electricity, electronics, IT or safety

• You have no more than 4 years relevant experience after finishing your diploma

• Candidates who are currently preparing a diploma are eligible to apply. However, they are expected to have obtained their qualification by the time they take up their appointment at CERN

• If you hold a higher level diploma (BSc, MSc..) you are not eligible, and therefore will not be considered. (however you may be eligible for the regular Fellowship, please check here)

• You should have at least a basic knowledge of English or French

• A CV (in English or in French)
• A photocopy of the last (highest) qualification
• Two reports on candidates to give as broad as possible overview of your academic and/or professional achievements

The application and ALL supporting documents should reach CERN (or be submitted using the e-recruitment system) by the closing date.

Please note: In the email of acknowledgment receipt, there will be a link to forward to your referees. This link will allow them to submit their recommendation in support of your application. Recommendations should be in English or French and submitted by the deadline indicated. Applications which are incomplete (e.g. missing reports on candidates) as of the closing date will not be considered.

• Duration: an initial contract of 1 year, renewable for a 2nd year
• Financial conditions: Your take-home pay will be 3500 Swiss francs/month
• Leave: You are entitled to 2.5 days paid leave per month
• Insurance: You are covered by CERN's comprehensive health scheme for yourself and your dependents
• Travel expenses: You are entitled to travel expenses for yourself and your dependents (unless stipulated otherwise)
• Depending on your circumstances, you may be entitled to an installation grant, family allowance and child allowance
• The Housing Service can provide information to help you in your search for accommodation
• Successful applicants will be assigned to a project with a supervisor
• On-the-job and formal training will be provided at CERN. There are also in-house language courses for English and/or French

Ce programme est destiné aux techniciens qui veulent acquérir une expérience professionelle exceptionnelle pour leur future carrière, ou leurs études supérieures.

Nous acceptons les candidatures des techniciens talentueux dans les domaines suivants : électronique, informatique, vide, refroidissement et ventilation, électricité, radioprotection, topométrie, construction. Ce sont quelques exemples dans lesquels les candidats sélectionnés pourront approfondir leurs connaissances et transmettre leur savoir.
 

• Vous êtes ressortissant d'un Etat Membre du CERN.

• Vous êtes titulaire d'un diplôme technique en mécanique, électricité, informatique, sécurité ou électronique.

• Vous n'avez pas plus de 4 années d'expérience pertinentes après votre diplôme.

• Les candidats qui sont sur le point d'obtenir leur diplôme peuvent postuler; cependant, ils doivent avoir obtenu leur diplôme au moment de commencer leur contrat au CERN.

• Si vous avez un diplôme plus élevé (Licence, Master), vous n'êtes pas éligible, et votre candidature ne sera pas considérée. (cependant, vous l'êtes peut-être pour le Fellowship)

• Vouz avez des connaissances au moins de niveau scolaire en anglais ou français.

• un CV;
• la copie de votre dernier diplôme obtenu;
• deux "reports on candidates" afin de donner une vue d'ensemble aussi étendue que possible de vos résultats académiques et de vos réalisations professionnelles.

A noter : dans l'email d'accusé de réception, un lien à transmettre par email à vos référants sera disponible. Celui-ci leur permettra de soumettre leurs "reports on candidates". Ces rapports doivent être rédigés en anglais ou en français et envoyés avant la date limite indiquée.

Les candidatures incomplètes (ex: rapports manquants) à la date de clôture ne seront pas prises en compte.

• Durée : un contrat initial d'1 an, renouvelable pour une 2nde année.
• Conditions financières : vous recevrez 3500 Francs Suisse/mois.
• Congés : vous bénéficiez de 2.5 jours de congé par mois de service.
• Assurance maladie et accidents : vous et votre famille êtes assurés automatiquement aux termes de la convention passée entre le CERN et notre compagnie d'assurance maladie.
• Frais de voyage : le CERN rembourse vos frais de voyage pour vous et votre famille pour rejoindre Genève, sauf indications contraires.
• Selon vos circonstances personnelles, vous pouvez recevoir une indemnité d'installation, et une allocation de famille.
• Le Service du Logement peut vous fournir des informations pour trouver un logement adéquat.
• Vous aurez un projet de travail et un superviseur.
• Vous aurez accès à des formations techniques sur place. Nous proposons également des cours d'anglais et français.

Les candidatures seront examinées par un comité d'experts au CERN qui se réunira une fois la date limite de candidature passée. Les candidats retenus pourront débuter leur engagement au CERN dans les 6 mois qui suivent la sélection.
