Established in 2010, the GCF invests in transformational climate projects in the developing world. The Fund makes an ambitious contribution to global climate act ion and channels significant financial resources into developing countries to help build low -emission and climate- resilient societies. It is country -driven and undertakes actions which reflect the circumstances of each country concerned and its national a spirations. The GCF is a key enabler of the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

Since its establishment, the GCF has mobilized 10.3 billion USD, accredited 54 entities to channel its resources and approved 43 funding proposals. In addition, it has bu ilt up an extensive program to support developing countries identify their needs, in particular those who are most vulnerable to climate change impacts. The GCF’s diverse workforce is advancing its mission from its headquarters in South Korea. The Associate Professional in the PMU will be responsible for a range of analytical and operational tasks necessary for the ongoing operationalization of the PMU.

Duties and responsibilities

• With support from the Country Programming Division, provide support for the monitoring of readiness and preparatory support activities;

• Create a portfolio – level database that collects and documents necessary information from legal arrangements with National Designated Authorities (NDAs) and delivery partners; • Produce data visualisation inputs for efficient readiness related portfolio monitoring and showcasing results to the senior management team/Board;

• Create and operationalize templates that capture progress and completion related data (both qualitative

and quantitative) of activities under the readiness and preparatory support programm e;

• Liaise with NDAs and delivery partners to apprise them of their implementation status, course corrections

and programmatic and financial compliance issues;

• Coordinate with the Country Programming Division towards the effective monitoring and reporting o f the

readiness programme portfolio;

• Support the Country Programme Division to develop guidance materials and processes to improve the

overall efficiency and effectiveness of the GCF readiness and preparatory support programme;

• Ensure the completeness of d isbursements and/or manage any operational issues that may arise with

respect to project management, bank, currency or any other unforeseen financial matters;

• Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, and ICT in terms of prompt data sharing of transaction record s of

disbursements and improvement of database; and

• Work closely with GCF’s Finance team to review the finance/budget section on progress/completion reports

in preparation for subsequent disbursements.

Expected experience and qualifications*

• Master’s degree in economics, finance, sustainable development, environmental policy, law, or related fields;

• At least two (2) years of relevant work experience;

• Experience in international negotiations or finance institution/bank experience is highly desirable

• Experience in climate change project development/management and capacity building projects/programs

in an international setting is an advantage;

• Proven competence and autonomy in the use of standard software programs and data analytics tools: Excel,

Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access, Tableau; and

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position; knowledge of

another UN language an advantage.

*The person assessed by the Selection Panel as most suitable for the position will be proposed for appointment. The

above criteria should be se en as indicators of the experience and skills that would qualify candidates for

consideration. Selection among short -listed candidates will also take into account performance at interview,

appropriate testing, and references.
