Resource Mobilization Specialist The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking an innovative and analytical thinker for the position of Resource Mobilization Specialist to manage critical elements in the functioning and success of the Resource Mobilization Unit (RMU).
The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweet potato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. The Position: The Resource Mobilization Specialist will be based in La Molina, Lima, Peru and will report to the Resource Mobilization Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative and office support
• Manage and track internal and external communications with stakeholders, prospective and current donors, and institutional partners.
• Manage and update the Resource Mobilization Unit’s tracking systems and Knowledge Management hubs, utilizing Microsoft Excel, MicrosoftWord and CIP’s CRM systemthat is currently being rolled out.
• Oversee internal audit compliance with CIP RMU processes and procedures. • Provide backstopping support to staff on travel to synthesize information, facilitate communication and provide status updates.
• Assist in the preparation of talking points, meeting bios and other information required to brief the Resource Mobilization Director (RMD) and other senior CIP staff members engaged in meeting external stakeholders.
• Synthesize and prepare reports for high level internal reporting requirements, including Board documentation.
• Provide support to the RMU and CIP administrative processes and functions, as assigned by the RMD, such as attendance to RMU meetings, note and aide memoire preparation, and acting as a unit representative when so required.
Business and proposal development
• Manage proposals in a proposal manager role, taking responsibility for management of the entire
proposal process, ergo: (i) working with a variety of international and external stakeholders; (ii) managing development calendars and milestones; (iii) negotiating with partners; (iv) ensuring proposals are in line with CIP corporate requirements and address donor requests; (v) carry out editing and light writing duties as required; and (vi) ensuring timely submission of proposals for donor consideration.
• Support business development functions, including contributing to proposals and budgets to be
submitted to multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors.
• Guide proposal development team members on CIP Resource Mobilization processes and
organize proposal development hard copy and electronic files.
• Conduct, under the guidance of RMU colleagues, opportunity eligibility reviews and vetting of
potential partners.
• Oversee final proposal submissions as per donor requirements.
Communications and Editing
• Produce, review and edit informal, formal and professional communications. This includes the
drafting of emails and professional business letters.
• Provide editorial and light writing support to the unit for various types of communications, reports,
proposals, and other related documents.
Selection Criteria:
• Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Business,
International Development or related studies.
• Strong experience of at least 3 years in related positions, preferably in similar RM-type roles.
• Prior experience working in a multi-donor organization specifically with large international
donors, such as USAID and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (desirable).
• Prior experience working in a similar RM-type role.
• Interested in International Development as a career and learning and growing in this exciting
field.
• Able to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, make
recommendations effectively.
• Computer, presentation, clerical and excel budgeting experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are a must.
• Demonstrated leadership, ethics and sound judgment, both independently and as part of a
team

Conditions: International position with a one-year term with three-month probation period, and the
