OBJECTIVE OF THE OFFICE/DEPARTMENT
The Communicable Diseases and Health Analysis Department (CHA) promotes, coordinates, and implements technical cooperation activities directed toward the surveillance, prevention, control, and elimination of communicable diseases and zoonosis that are technically sound and appropriate for the political and sociocultural context in which they are implemented. It strives to achieve a sustainable impact on health by providing normative guidance, furthering the implementation of evidence based interventions, and fostering alliances that strengthen country capacity, improve the effectiveness of inter-country collaboration, and facilitate policy and decision making processes through improved health information coverage, analysis and quality at all levels.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the general supervision of the Director, Communicable Diseases and Health Analysis (CHA), and the direct supervision of the Unit Chief, Neglected, Tropical, and Vector-Borne Diseases (CHA/VT), the incumbent is responsible for, but not necessarily limited to, the following duties\:
1. Provide technical support for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Organizationâs Strategy and Plan of Action for Malaria;
2. Support the implementation of regional malaria strategic documents and programs of work, in alignment with global strategies and initiatives;
3. Collaborate with members of the Malaria team in strategic, financial, and operational planning, including follow-up and coordination of performance monitoring and assessment exercises (PMA); development of the program's BWP and semester work plans (PTS), in alignment with the Organization's strategic plans and priorities;
4. Support the team in drafting and consolidating responses to ad hoc information requests from different levels of the Organization (e.g. country briefing books, reviews of strategic indicators, status of malaria mandates);
5. Provide technical support to optimize programmatic and budgetary implementation; facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of grants from external donors e.g. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), WHO/Global Fund, USAID, etc.);
6. Support the development and consolidation of project work plans and facilitate the consolidation and development of periodic and ad hoc technical and financial reports corresponding to malaria grants/funds;
7. Perform other related duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education\:
Essential\: A bachelorâs degree in a health or social science from a recognized institution.

Experience\:
Essential\: Three years of combined national and international experience in project management, or program planning including project preparation and financial and budgetary monitoring of projects.

Languages\:
Very good knowledge of English or Spanish with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese would be an asset.
IT Skills\:
Demonstrated ability to use a computer and software programs such as Microsoft Office and Workflow management systems, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook. Other IT skills and knowledge of other software programs such as Visio, Project would be an asset.
