ABOUT THE JOB:

 

The Community Safety Officer, under the direct supervision of Senior Project Officer (AVR), is primarily responsible for organizing and providing community safety and mediation trainings to project beneficiaries and targeted communities and follow-up coaching.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Organize and conduct trainings and workshops on community safety and conflict mediation
  • Support to designing and/or updating training methodology, content and materials
  • Maintaining regular communication with community leaders (ARBAB), particularly women and children on community Armed Violence Reduction.
  • Working closely with the Hub Officers for arranging, conducting and following up on training and other activities
  • Assist the team and the Training Officers for updated information on communities and mediation training.
  • Follow-up and support the community trainers in implementing activities
  • Provide support to the community trainers for preparing community safety and mediation training
  • Establishing and maintaining linkages among relevant stakeholders
  • Support the Senior Project Officer (AVR) to generate qualitative and quantitative data to document milestones of project progress and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly updates as required
  • Assist the Senior Project Officer (AVR) in conducting regular monitoring and reporting
  • Keep the Senior Project Officer (AVR) updated on the progress of the training and any issues that may arise during the course of the implementation that need senior project officer attendees
  • Update the Senior Project Officer (AVR) on any information related to security
  • Collect and compile villages/district data and information into agreed system, including performing quality checks to ensure information is correct and adequate
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Senior Project Officer or senior management of DDG

 

ABOUT YOU:

 

To be successful in this role you must have:

 

Experience and Competencies

 
  • At least 3 years of work experience in conflict mediation, community safety or other relevant area
  • Experience in developing and implementing mediation training
  • Strong analytical and technical skills on community safety and conflict mediation.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with IDPs/returnees in Afghanistan.
  • Ability to clearly express one’s thoughts, to analyze and present information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to set priorities and to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  
Education and Qualification

 

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Political law or any other relevant degree

     

    Languages:

     

  • Good knowledge of English
  • Fluency in Pashto and Dari

We offer

 

  • DRC-DDG will offer the successful applicant till the end of 2017 extendable depending on both funding and performance.
  • Salary and conditions will be in accordance with DDG’s Terms of Employment for national staff. This position will be placed at salary Grade D, level 1, basic 745 USD.
