The Digital Strategy Section within the Division of Communication comprises Web, Social Media and Digital Governance and Platform teams working together to create compelling public-facing content and to provide digital services within the organization. Through multiple platforms and in multiple languages, the Digital Strategy Section draws attention to the many facets of UNICEF’s work, encouraging public support, participation and action, as well as ensuring greater transparency and accountability. Web stories, blog posts, photo essays, Facebook posts, Twitter campaigns, and videos for distribution via UNICEF.org, UNICEF Connect, YouTube, news media and other outlets and platforms are all a part of our digital storytelling. As product manager, you will be responsible for implementing the product strategy and converting into an actionable product roadmap, ensuring continuous improvement of UNICEF’s web platform.

How can you make a difference?

Join our team to deliver custom websites for external communications and engagement. As product manager, you will be responsible for implementing the product strategy and converting into an actionable product roadmap, ensuring continuous improvement of UNICEF’s web platform.

  • Work with stakeholders to convert business needs into epics, user stories, workflow diagrams, and storyboards. Create user acceptance conditions and document specifications in a consumable format.
  • Actively participate in the development lifecycle activities, such as documentation, defining QA test cases, sprint planning, daily scrums and sprint reviews and retrospective as the product manager with our information technology counterparts.
  • Socialize and update the product roadmap and product backlog based on results of the development lifecycle activities. 
  • Liaise with global users for requests to build advanced functionality to deliver new sites and functionalities based on existing technical capabilities.
  • Manage, socialize, document and standardize the rollout platform updates and newly implemented features. Provide knowledge and capacity building to the team for updates and new features.
  • Work with external vendors for special custom site delivery.
  • Oversee the execution of the production work throughout all stages (from production to launch), ensuring all web products meets defined standards of quality.
  • Supervise project managers, and make sure stakeholders are informed of project status and timely delivery of different web site projects within scope and adequately resource allocation.


To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in information and technology, computer science, communications, digital media or other fields related to this position. A first-level university degree in combination with additional 2 years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • Five years of relevant work experience in the management and production of digital development projects.
  • Certification on web site building and agile methodology is highly desirable.
  • Expert in technology and the creation of websites with Drupal CMS.
  • Knowledge of other CMS, such as WordPress or OpenText RedDot is desirable.
  • Experience managing project teams.
  • Fluency in English is required, additional knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is preferred.

Remarks:

This position is classified as “rotational,” which means the incumbent is expected to rotate to another duty station upon completion of their tour of duty.
