The Digital Strategy Section within the Division of Communication comprises Web, Social Media and Digital Governance and Platform teams working together to create compelling public-facing content and to provide digital services within the organization. Through multiple platforms and in multiple languages, the Digital Strategy Section draws attention to the many facets of UNICEF’s work, encouraging public support, participation and action, as well as ensuring greater transparency and accountability. Web stories, blog posts, photo essays, Facebook posts, Twitter campaigns, and videos for distribution via UNICEF.org, UNICEF Connect, YouTube, news media and other outlets and platforms are all a part of our digital storytelling. How can you make a difference?

Become part of a team responsible for supporting and advising global staff with regards to digital governance compliance, and mitigating online risks for the organization.

  • Assist HQ units, Regional and Country Offices to successfully comply with existing policies, procedures, standards, guidelines related to UNICEF managed public-facing websites, social media channels and mobile apps.
  • Communicate, manage and apply any relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) identified as part of digital governance.
  • Coordinate with the division and IT colleagues on requests from offices regarding public-facing websites, domain names management, hosting and IT security inquiries.
  • Work closely with the Digital Governance Specialist to design and run workflows needed to manage governance cases and requests, and to facilitate policy, procedures and standards working sessions.
  • Monitor and mitigate infringement and reputation threats to UNICEF’s brand online in collaboration with internal stakeholders, corporate partners and vendors.
  • Provide monthly reports on the type and frequency of queries received.
  • Support digital communication capacity building efforts during information and training sessions.
  • Support the creation, establishment and management of digital services contracts and vendors.
  • Actively participate in digital communication practitioner’s Yammer group by monitoring questions, providing answers and regularly sharing digital governance updates.
  • Support the management of Digital Labs, the internal SharePoint team site for digital communication resources.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in communications, management, digital media or other field related to this position. A first-level university degree in combination with an additional 2 years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • Two years of relevant work experience in digital communications/information field.
  • Solid knowledge of digital governance.
  • Proven experience with digital brand protection activities.
  • Knowledge of online security threats such as phishing, brand impersonation and hacking.
  • Experience providing support to users.
  • Experience with professionally managing/contributing to websites and/or social media accounts.
  • Fluency in English is required, additional knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
