MEL Assistant – National Contract

Background  

DRC has been operating in Greece since December 2015, providing support to the Greek Ministry of Migration Policy in ensuring dignified reception conditions for refugees and migrants arriving on Lesvos island. In March 2016, DRC expanded its operations in Athens, in response to the changing context and the build-up of refugee population on mainland Greece. 

Purpose

Under the supervision of the MEL Officer, the MEL Assistant is responsible for the implementation of pre- and post-intervention data collection, both quantitative and qualitative and directly liaising with the DRC programme’s beneficiaries. She/he will also actively participate in the dissemination of the findings as planned by the M&E Officer as well as to the verification of the relevant and necessary documentation in order to ensure donor compliance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following: 

  • Conduct interviews, focus group discussions (FGD) and any other data-collection techniques necessary
  • Give feedback and make recommendations for the constant improvement of the data collection tools and methods
  • Ensure the safe storage and archiving of the databases under her/his responsibility
  • Assist the MEL Officer in data analysis and draft reports as required
  • Participate in or directly animate the findings’ dissemination sessions to programme teams and to the various stakeholders
  • Accompany the programme teams during key moments of our interventions offering technical support in putting in place previous recommendations
  • Ensure that Means of Verification and all appropriate documentation for DRC Greece’s interventions are available and stored in an orderly manner
  • Any other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in international development, behavioral/social sciences a strong advantage
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques, including surveys, interviews, FGD, observations etc.
  • Ability to present and meaningfully disseminate findings addressing to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent Arabic or Farsi language skills and English a must

 

Skills & Qualities

  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, working with different groups, partners and nationalities
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Capacity to build rapport with people from various cultural backgrounds
  • MS Office computer skills, especially Excel
  • Knowledge of SPSS, ODK are highly desirable

 

Terms and Conditions

The contract will be under the Greek Labor Law, and all allowances will be provided to the employees (Christmas, Easter, Vacation bonus).

The position will be based in Attica (Greece) and national terms and conditions apply

 

General Regulations

The employee shall follow DRC instructions on safety, confidentiality and ethical guidelines, including the Code of Conduct and the Humanitarian Accountability Framework.

Employee should not engage in any other paid activity during the DRC contract period without prior authorization.

Employee should not engage in any activity that could harm DRC or the implementation of any project during the DRC contract period.

Employee should not give interviews to the media or publish project-related photos or other material without prior authorization.
