The EU-funded Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme has two main strategic objectives: to strengthen the scientific and technological base of European industry and to encourage its international competitiveness, while promoting research that supports EU policies.

RADSAGA is a 4-year project providing a training network for the career development of 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) on emerging radiation effects in state-of-the-art electronic components and systems. The RADSAGA consortium comprises 6 research institutes and facilities, 5 industrial partners and 9 universities.
RADSAGA started on 1 March 2017.

The challenge
With the increasing complexity of electronics and electronic systems, studies on the effect of radiation are gaining ground in sectors including aviation, the automotive industry and medicine. There is a strong demand for dedicated design and qualification guidelines, as well as for skilled professionals specializing in radiation effects.
RADSAGA will bring together industry, universities, laboratories and test-facilities in order to deepen our knowledge of radiation effects and to train young scientists and engineers in all aspects related to electronics exposed to radiation.
RADSAGA has four main research and development areas:

Experimental facility dosimetry aspects, focusing on emerging experimental techniques and radiation effects;
Development and qualification of state-of-the-art components and radiation hardening aspects;
Radiation qualification solutions at a system level;
Guidelines for facility dosimetry, emerging effects at component level, and system qualification.

How can you take part?
Are you an electronic engineer with a background in radiation effects?
Are you a physicist with a knowledge of electronics, radiation effects or semiconductor devices?
Would you like to do your PhD in a stimulating international training network? Courses on radiation effects will be given by world-leading experts and specialized research groups in universities across Europe.
Apply now! You will have a 3-year employment contract in order to obtain your PhD degree with one of the European universities in the RADSAGA consortium.
In addition to the scientific research and training, secondments around the consortium and complementary training (such as communication and management courses) will contribute towards enhancing your career prospects in the academic and non-academic sectors.
