Background

Under the overall guidance of the Senior Economist and Economist Analyst of designated supervisors, the Programme Associate ensures effective project implementation by entering and managing data and supporting programme implementation consistent with UNDP rules and regulations.

The Programme Associate will support staff of the Programme Unit. The Programme Associate works in close collaboration with the operations, programme and projects’ staff in the CO and UNDP HQs as required for resolving implementations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supports formulation of programme strategies and implementation of the Country Programme Action Plan focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Support the collection, analysis and presentation of background information and economics and statistics reports for de CO Management CCA, UNDAF, CPD, CPAP, effective application of RBM tools and establishment of management targets (BSC).
  • Presentation of background information for formulation of country programme, draft project documents, work plans, budgets, proposals on implementation arrangements.

Provides effective support to management of the CO programme focusing on the achievement of the  following results:

  • Support the Senior Economics, and Economics Analyst in the coordination and supervision of the different processes and activities necessary for the implementation of the project, according to the detail and chronology contained in the project document.
  • Effective Implementation projects.
  • Support the Senior Economics and Economics Analyst in generations reports and data base and time series about economics and statics information, and others analytics reports in attentions of the projects results.
  • Support UNDP in the process of structuring the area of Human Development, Multidimensional Progress and ODS.
  • Support the Unit Programme with audit information for DIM/NIM projects, and supports implementation of audit recommendations.

Provides administrative support to the Programme Unit  focusing on achievement of the   following    results:

  • Support and coordinate meetings of technical and research teams linked (INE, BCV, MPPP, MPPRE) to the thematic areas of the project.
  •  Support the writing of the reports corresponding to each product of the project, and others reports.
  • Support and participate in activities that are guided by the UNDP Representative, the Senior Economics and the Economics Analyst on issues related to the project.
  • Support the database of project files.

Supports resource mobilization focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Analysis of information resource mobilizations alternatives and strategies for financing.
  • Track and reporting on mobilized resources.

Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Organization of trainings for the operations/ projects staff on programme.
  • Synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices in programme.
  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Required Skills and Experience

Education

University Degree in Business or Public Administration, Economics, Statistics, Political Sciences and Social Sciences.

Experience

2 years of programme experience or academic experience is required at the national or international level. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and advance knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems, and advanced programme for statistical analysis of data and time series.

Language Requirements

Fluency in Spanish and English desirable.
