The new UNICEF Global Volunteer Office is responsiblefor establishing and scaling the global volunteer initiative. This includes rolling out the initiative, global coordination and results tracking, maintaining the global digital hub, andtechnical support to countries, among others.

How can you make a difference?

The Programme Assistant is responsible for executing a broad range of standardized administrative and financial tasks requiring thorough knowledge of UNICEF administrative and financial procedures, processes and policies. This may involve:

  • Providingtravel assistance and guidanceto staff in office for travel arrangements and entitlements based on the organization’s rules and policies.

  • Processing contracts and invoices for consultants, institutions, external partners, staff, interns and volunteers that provide a service to the office. This includes committing funds, completing necessary forms and templates, and making necessary logistical arrangements.

  • Maintaining, monitoring and reporting on office work plans and budgets to ensure optimum use of available funds

  • Arranging for the purchase and timely distribution of office supplies.

  • Supporting events, conferences and meetingsby making the logistical arrangements, preparing background materials and engaging with facilitators, caterers and hosts.
  • Maintaining hard and electronic files and up-to-date data base systems ensuring timely and appropriate recording, safekeeping and disposal of confidential information.

  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the work of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of UNICEF systems, policies and procedures is considered an asset.
  • Strong writing, interpersonal and communications skills are required
  • Non-US candidates must be in possession of a US G4 visa or be a US permanent resident/citizen.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
