Background & Rationale
UNICEF seeks a consultant to support its Education in Emergencies (EiE) work streams to fulfil Core Commitments to Children in humanitarian situations and achieve objectives as set out in the Strategic Plan.
Programme Division, UNICEF, New York has, in conjunction with Regional EiE focal points, identified a number of technical, knowledge management and capacity development outputs that will advance timely, predictable and quality support for partners and UNICEF staff working in education in crisis-affected contexts. More analysis and simple reference tools are necessary to support the global priority of bridging the humanitarian/development divide. Furthermore, capacity development support continues to be a top priority for ROs and COs to support frontline response and further organization objectives to Strengthen Humanitarian Action across UNICEF.
Purpose
Under the supervision of the Education in Emergencies Specialist, the Consultant will provide specialized technical assistance to UNICEF Education Section’s EiE hub. UNICEF requires support in developing knowledge products, supporting partnerships and providing specialized analysis for priority work streams. Position will require travel to support partnerships and to engage in data collection/evidence building for technical analysis.

The tasks of the consultancy will involve leading and supporting on diverse technical, capacity development and knowledge management processes and products to achieve results against the EiE core work plan activities: (Activity 7) Link humanitarian response and development programming through risk-informed approaches; (Activity 8) Build knowledge and skills to strengthen response capacity for humanitarian action; (Activity 9) Enhance strategic global partnerships through amplified advocacy and coordination. Remarks
With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.
