HQ program teams provide support to field teams and local partners and manage all programmatic aspects related to operations, finances, contracts, and reporting. The Intern will assist with administrative support for IFES’ MENA programs, as well as with logistical and research needs as they arise. The Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in general program and grant management, financial and contractual support, writing, and research while helping to support IFES’ work promoting technical assistance in election management, governance, and civil society work in the MENA region.Job Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Senior Program Officer, the Program Intern will:

  • Help to organize and maintain program files, review existing files, and update materials;
  • Assist in the processing of project financial forms and reporting requirements;
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to IFES’ MENA teams;
  • Attend and report on internal and external meetings and other discussions related to programs;
  • Conduct research on issues or topics related to programs and proposal development;
  • Draft research papers, presentations, and other project documents for external use;
  • Assist with editing and writing of proposals, reports, briefings, and memorandums;
  • Assist with organizing events and meetings in DC and abroad related to IFES’ programming;
  • Limited translation as it applies to programmatic work; and
  • Other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Political Science, or a related field, with a graduation date less than one year from the date of application; or current college or graduate student in a related field.
  • Fluency (oral and written) in English required; Arabic and/or French capabilities preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and interest in, electoral and democracy issues preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and interest in, the Middle East and North Africa region.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the program team and other departments.
  • Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Experience handling sensitive information in a secure and confidential manner preferred
  • Experience in maintaining office or project records and financial documents preferred.
