Coaching for IM partners in Jordan to strengthen their organizational capacity

Assignment duration: within the period of December 15, 2017 to February 1, 2018

1. Background IM Swedish Development Partner

IM Swedish Development Partner (IM) is a Swedish development organization fighting poverty and exclusion operating in five regions worldwide. The organization was founded in 1938 to defend human dignity, as a reaction to the fascist ideologies, hatred and violence that spread in Europe at the time. IM promotes the development of a strong and democratic civil society by collaborating with partner organizations*.* IM has been working in the Middle East since the late 1960s in the area of intellectual disability. At present IM Middle East (IM ME) works with partners in Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon in the areas of disability and women’s rights in the thematic areas of economic empowerment, health – SRHR, education and strengthening civil society.

In Jordan IM is working with partners in the areas of rights of persons with disabilities and women’s rights. Other components of Jordan program work are economic empowerment, inclusive education and support to civil society.

2. Rationale and purpose

In partnership with 7 Civil society organisations in Jordan , IM seeks to provide organisational capacity-building for the 7 national partner NGOs. This consultancy is required to carry out an initial, comprehensive assessment of the organisational capacities of IM partners in Jordan, and develop a plan for their capacity building to be implemented during 2018.

IM Jordan vision is to implement a holistic approach for strengthening the partners capacity building as well as their interventions and strategies, and to improve the quality of their programming.

The coaching will be implemented by external consultant , the plan should be developed together with the Programme officer and the Technical advisor.

3. Objectives:

· To carry out comprehensive assessments of the organisational capacity for IM partners (internal governance structure , Strategies , plans )

· To support the partners in developing their projects’ applications , Action plans , Results framework , mainstreaming gender and environment & reporting)

· To provide sufficient understanding of each organisation’s strengths and weaknesses

· To prepare coaching plan for building the capacity of each NGO tailored to their specific needs based upon the above assessments.

Deliverables

  1. Methodology for the full coaching plan for 7 partners

  2. Methodology and agenda for the 2-day planning and networking workshop in Amman

  3. Capacity building plans for 7 partners

  4. Final report with the overall findings, learning and suggestions for development processes

Duration of the consultancy From December 15, 2017 to February 1, 2018

4. Consultant Required Skills and Experience

· At least five years of professional experience and skilled in partners’ (NGOs/CSOs) capacity building and strengthening with focus to organizational assessment and organizational capacity building planning processes or organizational development processes;

· At least Five years of professional experience and skilled in CSOs’ planning, monitoring and evaluation system; organizational governance processes; partnership development and management experience; programmatic and technical experience on rights-based approach and human rights programs; CSOs’ advocacy processes, planning and tools; integrated community development approach etc. · Experience and skilled in financial management, anticorruption, gender and environmental mainstreaming will be strong added values.
