Who are we? 
Danish Refugee Council is a leading protection agency pursuing our mandate to protect and promote durable solutions to displacement-affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), DRC apply a regional approach with operational presence in Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Iraq. Present in Iraq since 2003, DRC is today operational in the Kurdish governorates, in and around Baghdad and in several South-Central governorates. Focused both on the influx of Syrian refugees and the current IDP crisis, DRC is providing assistance in a range of sectors including Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Protection, Livelihoods, Emergency Response (including food security, cash, and NFIs), WASH, Shelter and Mine Action. The Iraq programme presently employs some 600 national staff and 60 international staff, and is growing to meet new, emerging needs associated with ongoing and recent conflict in multiple locations. 
 
About the job 
The Facilities Officer is responsible for the management of services and processes that support the shared needs of DRC operations here in Erbil. The Facilities Officer will be involved in the day-to-day operations, particularly in relation to buildings and premises, including contract management, building and grounds maintenance, managing central services and inventory management of shared spaces 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
Responsibilities will cover several departments, as well as central services that link to all the staff in DRC Erbil, and duties may include more practical and hands-on tasks. Some services will be provided directly by the Facilities Officer, whilst others will also manage outsourced third-party facility management service providers brought in under contract (e.g. servicing). 
 
• Assisting in preparing procurement documents to contract for relevant goods and services and supervising and coordinating the respective works; 
• Checking that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and following up on any deficiencies; 
• Investigating availability and suitability of options for new premises; 
• Calculating and comparing costs for required goods or services to achieve best value for money; 
• Managing and liaising with HR/ Admin for central services such as utilities, energy, office security, maintenance, archiving, cleaning, waste disposal, and recycling; 
• Necessary document management of all contracts relating to properties, shared goods and services 
• Ensuring stock management of all essential guesthouse and office consumables and reporting inventories; 
• Responding appropriately to urgent issues as they arise and dealing with the consequences; 
 
About you 
 
To be successful in this role you must have: 
 
Experience and technical competencies:  
• Knowledge of generators, & water pump maintenance  
• Knowledge of general service provision of local utilities  
• Ability to carry out basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, flooring, and heating is preferred  
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in an often fast moving environment 
• Good communicator, team-player & planner 
• Familiar with local area  
 
Education 
• Degree or Certificate in relevant field (Degree preferred)  
• Experience with NGO (preferred) 
 
Languages 
• Arabic (advanced 
• Kurdish (advanced) 
• English (advanced)

We offer 
 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 12 months contract subject to extension based on performance and funding. You must be available to start work 1 January 2018  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals. This position will be placed at C3 DRC’s salary scale
