Danish Refugee Council is looking for a highly qualified individual for our program operations in Northern Iraq. The ideal candidate possesses outstanding communication skills, a desire and willingness to learn and a personal commitment to professional improvement. 

 

Who are we?  

Danish refugee council has been operating in Iraq since 2003 and in Northern Iraq since 2010.  

DRC Iraq is currently implementing a broad range of activities relevant to conflict affected communities and persons. The activities are categorized in ten sectors: Shelter and Non-food Items, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Livelihoods, Protection, Mine Risk Education, Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM). 

 

About the job:  

The Admin/Finance/HR Officer, in coordination and cooperation with the supporting staff, and supervised by the Head of field office is responsible for overseeing support functions in Zummar office. This includes HR, administration and finance.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support HR team to conduct staff induction and orientation in field offices, or centrally in Duhok, to ensure that all staff understand their job responsibilities and effectively use their time.
  • Work with Duhok HR Officer to distribute, explain, and collect all HR documents and send them to Duhok office for action.
  • Be the local contact person on all issues related to security checks, security related interviews for national staff, working with the senior public Relations officer to complete as necessary.
  • With support from Duhok HR assist in providing adequate coaching and training of staff when applicable.
  • Ensure that proper financial procedures are operated and maintained at field office in compliance with DRC rules and regulations
  • Receiving weekly advances, managing day to day payments, reporting regularly to Duhok office and settling advances each week. To perform the duties of Cashier, which includes responsibility for all cash transactions in the office in Zummar, and weekly reporting to finance officer in Duhok;
  • To prepare documents for payment and verify supporting documents according to DRC global rules as well as country specific legal regulations in preparation for advance settlement
  • Act as local point of contact for landlord and other local utility providers.
  • Manage any needed accommodations or requests for meeting halls as needed.
  • Process/distribute/follow up on employee sim cards, visibility items, making sure to distribute to new staff and collect from staff leaving. This will be done with support from Duhok Admin.
  • Supervise and manage cleaners, receptionists/guards in Zummar.
  • Responsible for obtaining necessary administrative authorizations’ from the relevant ministries and offices under the guidance of the Senior Public Relations Officer in Duhok
  • Manage employee bulletin board and Contact list for Zummar office, sending into Admin Officer and National Safety Officer when updated.
  • Manage local consumables store, requesting re-supply from Duhok Admin Officer when necessary
  • Conduct duties in accordance with DRC Code of Conduct.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the line manager.

 

 

 About you:

To be successful in this role we expect you to have: Analytical Skills, Planning Skills, with strong skills in Communication, Teamwork skills, spoken and written Kurdish, Arabic, and English language is essential yet appreciated.

Required qualifications:

  • 2 years of NGO/UN field experience in a similar position.
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to write weekly activity reports and communication pieces.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to determine priorities and attention to detail a must.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.
  • Willingness to work in the field and travel when needed.

 

Desirable qualifications: 

  • Relevant university degree in Business Administration or relevant area.

 

We offer:  

DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 month contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National Staff; please refer to www.drc.ngo under Vacancies. This position will be placed at Grade C1.
