Who are we?

DRC is a Danish international non-governmental organisation, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. DRC is present in some 40 conflict territories around the world assisting displaced people with shelter, food, income generating activities, legal aid and a wide range of other protection assistance

DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for over a decade, running a combination of emergency, livelihood, protection and advocacy programmes through Country Offices (COs) in Algeria, Libya/Tunisia, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey and a Regional Office (RO) in Amman. DRC has 17 offices and approximately one thousand staff members across the MENA region. 

 

About the job

To support in the various human resource functions, which include recruitment, performance, development, compensation and benefits, HR administration.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment

  • Coordinate MENA Regional Office recruitment process, by ensuring that the recruitment of international and national staff is done within specified time limits, in accordance with DRC standards, including appropriate announcements, interviewing, reference checks, contracting and on-boarding. Train hiring managers on the recruitment processes and make sure that hiring managers are using them.
  • Build applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, universities, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; maintaining and creating rapport, attending/arranging career fairs.
  • Liaise with line managers to write JDs and Advertisements for all positions
  • Support Regional HR Manager in  creating and updating a MENA Regional Recruitment strategy
  • Attract applicants by utilising online and print advertising, social media, personal and professional networks, constantly look for alternative ways of attracting right talents. Coordinate ”DRC Jobs” newsletter circulation on weekly basis
  • Monitor and provide monthly recruitment reports and providing recommendations for improvements based upon findings
  • Create and maintain recruitment files for all recruitments
  • Coordinate orientation process and arrivals checklist for all new staff and consultants, inform relevant admin and safety staff to follow-up with on-arrival arrangements related visas, accommodations, safety briefs, etc.
  • Contracts management – Ensure that all contract templates reflect minimum requirement of local labor law and DRC Operational Handbook. Be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of appropriate contracts for employees, consultants, volunteers, interns.
 
 Development
  • Support in arranging MENA Regional Induction programme 3-4 times a year
  • Support Regional HR Manager in Capacity Building activities for HR teams in MENA region
  • Train HR teams in MENA region on DRC HR tools and systems
 
 Performance
  • Support Regional HR Manager in conducting PADA trainings for staff
  • Track PADA form submission for all MENA RO staff
  • Follow-up with Line Managers to make sure that all staff has a probation review form completed by their line manager at least one calendar week prior the required termination notification date.
 
 Compensation & Benefits
  • Support Regional HR Manager in conducting/attending salary and benefits surveys, revising national staff salary scales
  • Advise hiring managers on compensation rates
 
 HR Administration
  • Keep personnel files for all MENA RO staff according to local law and DRC requirements, create new files for newly hired staff and collect missing files for all current staff
  • Keep track of all MENA RO staff AL balance, maintain leave requests
  • Keep HR tracker for all MENA RO staff, and key Country office staff up-to-dated
  • Notify line managers about approaching end dates of contracts for staff
  • Prepare work certificates for MENA RO staff upon request
 
 Other
  • Travel up to 10% of time to MENA Country offices to provide support in the field
  • Be available as surge capacity for recruitment of staff in country offices when requested
  • Other tasks assigned by Regional HR Manager

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • At least 2 years of professional HR work experience
  • Essential qualifications: University degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or equivalent preferred qualifications
  • Previous work experience in an international organization including work with expatriates
  • Previous experience in recruiting expatriate staff for an international organization is preferred
  • Proven ability to plan long-term, organized priorities and work under administrative and programmatic pressures with detail orientation and professional grace
  • Highly collaborative and able to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders to maximize cooperation and productivity
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience with HRIS
  • Fluent in English
  • Fluent in Arabic

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a one-year contract. You must be available to start work as soon as possible and be willing and able to work in Amman.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals; please refer to www.drc.org under Vacancies. This position will be placed at D level for Nationals.
