Title: Migration Officer 
Location: Dolo Ado

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS 
 
  • Design, organize and perform awareness raising activities regarding migration and gender to the target population; 
  • Design, organize and participate where appropriate in trainings and capacity building sessions regarding migration; 
  • Participate and actively lead the designing of IEC materials regarding migration; 
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with representatives from ARRA, UNHCR, other NGOs and stakeholders, and participate in relevant cluster and working group meetings and other coordination fora; 
  • Ensure high quality day-to-day technical oversight and implementation of migration initiatives to ensure strict adherence with international best practice protection standards, including the identification of protection risks and vulnerabilities with acute awareness of issues related to gender, age and diversity; 
  • Effectively supervise refugee incentive workers and community based workers towards implementation of migration related activities; 
  • Under the direction of the Area Manager support migration and protection related reporting for both internal and donor purposes. This may include providing weekly reports and developing internal reporting formats for easy use by the migration teams; 
  • Collaborate effectively with the other protection programs and especially the Protection Officer in order to ensure highest coverage of protection programming in the area of intervention; 
  • Contribute to respectful and positive working relationships with colleagues for the effective implementation of DRC activities; 
  • Assume other programmatic responsibilities, as assigned by the Area manager and Protection Manager; 
  • Collaborate with the logistics and procurement department in developing procurement plans and order requests for responsible projects; 
  • Contribute to new project development, including both narratives and budgets, upon request. 
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS 
 
Essential: 
  • Advanced degree in a law or related field from a recognized institution. 
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience, preferably with experience in the field of humanitarian response, protection work for an international NGO, UN agency or relevant ministry; 
  • Experience collaborating in protection, gender and human rights related activities; 
  • Experience working with youth and migrants on community mobilization using participatory approaches; 
  • Experience in capacity building preferably regarding migration and gender issues; 
  • Experience in developing IEC materials. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, social work, social sciences, international development, or other relevant field from a recognized institution. 
  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Excellent verbal and written proficiency in English. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Somali language
