The overall purpose is to support the Chief, Strategy, Change and Communication Centre in the different strategy management, strategic planning, change management and organizational development initiatives with focus on coordination and project management in a variety of areas.

Purpose of the job

The overall purpose is to support the Chief, Strategy, Change and Communication Centre in the different strategy management, strategic planning, change management and organizational development initiatives with focus on coordination and project management in areas relating to the:

• Establishment of a streamlined, simplified, sequenced framework for strategy management, development, review and implementation aligned with RO and CO planning processes and to better address programmatic needs (tools, roles, responsibilities, timing, milestones, resources, monitoring, impact, etc.)
• OMP planning and related results based management processes
• Organizational review, data gathering and analysis
• Planning and coordination of a diverse range of stakeholder consultations and change initiatives related to strategic planning, including development of content and format for e.g. SD management retreats, SD staff consultations, Global Supply meetings, OMP days, etc.

The post includes 40% project and results based management with 30% change management and 30% communication activities

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

1. Supports the establishment of a streamlined, simplified, sequenced framework for strategy management, development, review and implementation aligned with RO and CO planning processes and to better address programmatic needs (tools, roles, responsibilities, timing, milestones, resources, monitoring, impact, etc.)

2. Supports the strategic planning and OMP implementation and roll out activities

3. Project manages stakeholder and staff events related to the SD OMP planning and development

4. Provides ongoing quality assurance and monitoring support to the strategic planning process to ensure delivery against agreed scope, budget and timelines

5. Supports the development of and the coordination of the Supply Strategies, from planning (incl. Theories of Change) to implementation and monitoring; convene and provide support to Strategy Leads and the communications and knowledge exchange around Supply Strategies

6. Convenes on Supply Strategies via “Strategy Leads” meetings and other touch points with the Strategy Leads throughout the year (e.g. for progress updates, to prepare for Regional Supply Network meetings, etc.).

7. Provides ongoing quality assurance and editorial support to the strategy leads to ensure documentation and materials related to the strategies are up-to-date and complete

8. Provides critical communication support to creating awareness, understanding and support for Supply Strategies across external and internal audiences in close collaboration with the Country Support team and strategy leads

9. Supports to and coordination of data gathering and data analysis activities

10. Works closely and liaise between different centers and units within SD, as required

11. Any other duty duties or assignments as requested by the supervisor

Education
A completed Advanced University degree (Master’s Degree) in business administration, commerce social sciences, law or related technical field is required.

A completed relevant 1st university degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in the above areas combined with 7 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.


Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of professional work experience in planning and / or project management in the areas of social development, management, communication and/or work experience as an Office Manager with planning and coordination function at national and international levels is required. Good knowledge of planning and / or project management principles and practices is required.

Ability to manage and monitor the effective use of financial and material resources is required.

Knowledge of procurement / contracting would be an asset.
Knowledge and/or experience of business planning is an asset.

Skills in communication and project management tools are considered an asset.

Language requirement

Fluency in English is required.

Proficiency in another UN language (Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic, Chinese) is an asset.
