Psychosocial Support Assistant

We are looking for a highly qualified a candidates to fill the position of PSS Assistant activities in Azraq refugee camp in coordination PSS officer and under the supervision of the senior protection officer. 
 
 
 
Who we are 
 
DRC is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. With the vision that no displaced person must be in want of help to find protection and durable solutions, DRC provides assistance and protection to conflict-affected in many of the major conflicts in Asia, Africa and Middle East. The assistance can consist of relief and other humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and support to returning home, and the promotion of durable solutions. 
 
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities 
 
• Plan and implement psychosocial support activites in the SANAD centers in a participatory manner. 
• Develop well structured plans for all psychosocial activites (psycho-educational, empowerment, recreational etc.). 
• Conduct intake and post-session assessments for all PSS beneficiaries. 
• Ensure coordination with the PSS officer and protection officer and follow up of cases in need of further support. 
• Conduct group meetings and brainstorming sessions with beneficiaries for PSS related activities. 
• Build the capacities of volunteers to facilitate participatory and inclusive activities 
• Work in close coordination with the Azraq Program team to ensure PSS activities are in line with overall projects and targets for protection activities are met. 
• Weekly and monthly reports on progress against targets. 
• Contribute to data entry and analysis of gathered information. 
• In coordination with the PSS officer, prepare order requests to use funds for psychosocial support activities in line with DRC policies and procedures. 
• Ensure that protection is mainstreamed in all PSS activities and that activities are compliant with DRC Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (e.g. Child Safeguarding Policy, Incentive Based Volunteer recruitment) and Accountablity Principles.  
• Attend trainings related to line of work. 
Other duties as assigned. 
 
 
About you 
 
To be successful in this role you must have:  
 
Required qualifications/experience: 
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, social sciences, human rights, development or a relevant equivalent; 
• Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, social sciences, mental health, sociology or relevant equivalent experience; 
• At least 2 years experience in implementing psychosocial support group and individual activities in a humanitarian context. 
• Proven experience in planning and facilitating group psychosocial support activities.  
• Familiarity with IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings  
• Experience in providing trainings in psychosocial support. 
• Fluency in Arabic and strong English language skills. 
• Ability and willingness to maintain regular presence at Azraq camp (daily travel)  
• Ability to work effectively as an integral part of multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and to work with a wide range of actors;  
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. 
• English- fluent and Arabic-native

We offer 
 
DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 month contract including three months as probation period, renewable based on both funding and performance. You must be available to start on January 2018, and be willing and able to work in Azraq Camp -Jordan.
