Amnesty International wishes to co-opt an experienced global fundraising leader to serve as a member of its International Board (Board) to help us to grow our income and supporter base to increase our global human rights impact.

Our ability to change the world depends on our ability to move millions of people worldwide to join and donate to Amnesty International. We must build the strongest possible global movement of people who are passionate about defending human rights.

Our goal:

Amnesty International is a larger, stronger and more diverse movement with greater capacity to achieve human rights impact. We'll do this by:

  • Engaging 25 million people to take action for human rights with us by 2020
  • Inspiring four million people to donate in support of human rights- raising 400 million in 2020. This includes gifts from our biggest donors.

The International Board provides guidance and leadership for the Amnesty International movement worldwide. Made up of dedicated, inspiring volunteers, who bring a wealth of professional expertise and experiences, the Board leads a global movement of people who are passionate about defending human rights.

ABOUT YOU

The Board is looking for someone with:

1 Proven track record of global fundraising and/or mass marketing (commercial, brand or cause) expertise at managerial/strategic/board level, focussed on new donor/customer/member acquisition; 2 Experience and extensive knowledge of working and living in the global south, ideally from South Asia. Fluency in some of the key local languages is desirable; 3 Commitment to Amnesty's values and strategic direction; 4 Ability to make adequate time commitment (but we can be flexible on which meetings/parts of meetings the co-opted attends in person, based in particular on her/his area of expertise).

The co-opted member of the Board should bring: high levels of professional achievement in fundraising, or marketing, with accountability at senior director or board level in a successful international business/organization.

You'll need to be happy taking on an unpaid volunteer position and the time commitment of 2-3 days per month. Meetings will be happening four times a year and mostly during the weekends.

ABOUT THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Closing date for receipt your expression of interest is 31 December 2017. Interviews will be held the last week of January 2018 and the first meeting for the co-opted member to attend will be from 20-22 April 2018.
