Job description

  • Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and standards
  • Ensure compliance with CC strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines and standards
  • CC (core competencies) specific technical responsibility for implementation of technical activities of CC project(s)
  • CC specific technical responsibility for tracking of financial expenditures for technical activities of CC project(s)
  • CC specific technical responsibility for the quality control and monitoring of project activities
  • CC specific technical responsibility for project documentation of technical activities of CC project(s)
  • Provide specific technical support and capacity building towards project staff
  • Provide specific technical analysis and feedback to NRC representatives in coordination forums
  • Assess, promote and document ideas for technical improvement and further program development options
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
  • IF APPLICABLE: Monitor and document the implementation of project activities done by implementing partners and/or contractors (plan of action activities, contracts, financial expenditures and project documentation)
  • IF APPLICABLE: Conduct quality control and provide technical support to implementing partners and/or contactors
  • Line management for project staff
  • Contribute to the development of Country, Area and CC strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant CC projects
  • Coordinate and manage project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
  • Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Area Manager and the CC Specialist
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Develop and manage project budget (in cooperation with CCs) and coordinate across CCs
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy

Qualifications

  • Master/University degree in social sciences (education, political science, international relations, law, journalism, gender studies, human rights).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Technical ICLA expertise
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Valid AIBA license
